I've been having fun with the beta launch of the Virtual Magic Kingdom. My 10 year old granddaughter is here to visit for the weekend, so I registered her so she could also play.

This morning I got an email saying that I needed to validate a child's account. I pressed the link which took me to a page that said to validate my granddaughter's account, I needed to enter my credit card but it wouldn't be charged.

This doesn't seem right to me. Has anyone else had this experience?

I have had the same thing happen on other sites....they just want to verify that an adult in fact is giving her permission. If she is under 13 she cannot register without parental consent....I'd do it without a second thought.

I would love to know what the virtual magic kingdom is! Is it a PC game?

I haven't checked out the virtual MK web site but I would suggest you read the fine print before giving your credit card number. Are you sure you will never be charged even if you don't cancel after a few days?

Actually I think it is a bad idea to ask for a credit card number and a bad idea to give out your credit card number, for identification purposes.

Did it work without answering the email about a credit card number?

Also do not click the blue link in the email (or any email) and put your credit card number in there. The email could be unrelated junk mail. If the method of putting your credit card number into virtual MK is via a link in a separate email, ignore the email and do not folow those instructions.
