Has anyone had a virtual garage sale (via Craigslist or elsewhere)? I'd like to get rid of some stuff (some small, some big -like furniture), but this isn't the right time of year for an actual garage sale and DH isn't at all interested in garage sales or helping me with one...

So, I was thinking of selling stuff online, but I'd love tips first!

Are you on Facebook? I have had a lot of luck with selling on Facebook. Our city/town has a garage sale Facebook page ran by administrators. That is one of the biggest ways I got money for our recent trip.

Same here! Since last summer I've stashed away almost 3/4 or our trip $ by selling on FB- thats serious cash! :) I prefer it over Craigslist, and I'm always amazed at what people will pay for our old stuff. Tips: take good pics and learn to use a simple photo collage app since many FB sites only allow 1 photo ( you can seam together multiple views of your item) follow the group "rules" and don't hold items for people! Happy selling!

check facebook for a yard sale group in your area. just type in "yard sale" and whatever town you are close to in the search bar. I have several close to me. one is very active with over 10000 members.

Loving the Facebook group idea. I'm checking into that now!

As for my experience wtih CL virtual garage sale is that you have to be prepared to have stupid questions asked even when you have the answers in the post, potential spam emails, phone calls even when you ask for texts only, be home or available to show the item, etc. So it's a lot of work but if you are prepared for all that then you can definitely make it work. I know sometimes I want to do it but then I realize that I just don't have the time to deal with the calls, emails, visits, etc so I then wait until a better time haha.

Thanks! I didn't know about yard sales on FB! I just found a local one and requested to join... I'll see how it goes!

Just to add, around here the FB groups are called 'swap shop' and not garage sale or yard sale. So you might try searching multiple things. I know there are LOTS of swap groups around me...I found one and then just kept finding another and another..
