The beach balls bounce. That's why it looks like that. They are up in the air
when adambinder took the screenshot. As for the other items they look normal
to me. :confused:

The bounce is the only reason I bought the beach balls. I didn't really think about buying them until I put the one I got in the quest in my room and it started bouncing, but I then knew I needed one in every color. :jumping3: :bounce: :Pinkbounc
Only have one of each color so far, due to my lack of bird-identifying skills, but hope they stick around long enough for me to get more.
 
No space and when I tried to get it fixed, all my friends that I managed to find through aimless wandering were deleted and I received a new guest number. Oh yeah, loving it. :badpc:

That stinks. :| Sorry about that. But maybe the new guest number
will actually get approved? I dunno. They should worry about this
before releasing that ice cream quest.
 
I heard that if your name has a space in it, then the title won't be accepted
and you will still be a guest. Just call VFK or use contact us to fix the problem,
other people have done this and they got their title immediately.

Just for anyone who is still a guest and registered with a space in their name.

Why I am disappointed in VFK:

1. They gave me hope for a world where I made and hung with so many wonderful friends, and have not delivered.

2. They have released LOTS of cool items, with the only way to earn them being a memory test. If you have a bad memory, or don't stay signed on forever, there is no way to make decent credits to buy anything.

3. A game would be fun, a memory test is not.

4. Friends can't find each other. What's the point?

5. Exits are IMPOSSIBLE to navigate due to issues they need to fix.

6. People are invisible due to issues they need to fix.

7. People STILL don't have titles.

8. Instead of providing us with a map that would make SOOO many things easier, they are busy creating quests that are maddening to complete because of 4-6.

9. We have chairs we can't sit in. Crates we can't stack. Lights we can't turn on. Am I the only 1 that just doesn't get the order of priorities?

I am so saddened by all of this. I had so much hope for VFK and am watching our circle of friends divide between other (or no) games. Also, those with a memory are acquiring mass wealth, while those with no memory are not. And yet, there is NO WAY for friends to share with each other.

And I soooo hope it's not true, but I have heard many reports of favorites, already, on behalf of the programmers. Again, I have heard this only through others so I am just hoping it's not true. It took me 2.5 hours to complete the quest the other night. Just because I have not picked up a phone to complain does not mean I am having a good game-playing experience, not in VFK at least. And I had soooo hoped it would be home.

I have to say I agree with you. Sadly when vmk was closing, close friends looked to vfk as their only way to contact each other. Maybe friendships have been lost Im sure.
I dont know who sets their priorities but its very sad. Many ppl dont have their names, the friends list dont work, ( I know mine sure dont) you cant exit rooms...on and on and on the list goes. I know its beta but fix things in order of importance. Its more frustrating this way. And Im sure its a last effort to keep ppl at the site by including quests but its only added to the frustration.
And yes I know, if I dont like it dont go there. Well for the most part once every 2 weeks for a few minutes is my limit before my ADD kicks in.
Idk about the favortism in the game. Ive heard rumors but Im never there to see if its true. Sweet and I are in small worlds alot and I can tell you this, the staff visit all and any rooms. Their a great bunch of ppl.

Oh well just my 2 cents.

No Im not blaming vfk for anything. Im simply stating that friends made plans to meet each other on vfk and the game is like mass confusion with the names not being approved. Alot cant even find each other. As a result ppl have left the game out of frustration. Lost friendships.

If VFK developers had put in a bit more effort before letting people play... if only there was more Alpha before the Beta, this wouldn't be happening.

I registered for VFK in the first Beta group. I signed on the first day. After trying out some other "Beta" games (including VMK), there is no excuse for the kinds of bugs and lack of planning they have shown thus far. I think they mean well but I suspect their programmers are more experienced with business applications than in gaming environments. While a code is a code is a code, there really are differences in the complexity demanded to make a decent gaming environment. I also feel that this complete disregard of their intended historical theme shows additional lack of planning. I have no problem with "summer fun" items, but how much cooler it would have been if they had stuck with their original historical perspective. How about "summer fun" circa 1890 to go with their Victorian rooms?

The lack of debugging issues that have been in the game since day 1 shows a singular unprofessional approach. So far, it doesn't resemble VMK so much as a very watered down version of most other SIM worlds.

Perhaps, in time, they'll get through their pre-alpha growing pains and move on into true alpha and beta testing. For me, I'll stick with those other beta games that at least deliver on their stated goals. I'll miss all of you from VMK. Hope everyone finds a new "virtual world" that will mean as much to you as our lost one did.

I know many of us are playing two or three games (each game supplying one or two aspects that VMK provided). Hope to see you'all in some of the other realms.
 
Sorry, I'm not trying to be negative here but ... the items all look so weird in the enviroment of this game. Almost like someone just super-imposed images onto a back ground in photoshop. It's like they have the dimension and perspective all wrong :confused:

I never noticed until you said something, but you're right. They do look kind of odd. Even the items that aren't moving don't seem to "meet the floor" just right.
 
ya know i really wish ppl would stop bashing VFK just bc there are bugs! And here is just a heads up... THIS IS BETA! THERE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE BUGS AND WE ARE SUPPOSED TO HELP THE STAFF AND PROGRAMERS FIND THEM! in my opinion they are trying VERY hard right now. they are balancing 2 things... 1) giving us new features to play with and 2) smashing those bugs WHILE they continue to give us new features... so plz ppl give them a break. They JUST opened RIGHT after VMK closed so that all of us would have some place to go to meet all our frineds from VMK

The game is in test mode and we are supposed to be the testers, not the moaners.
Of course it is not like the old game yet , but they are trying hard to make it into a good family game.
I have seen more staff in this game then i ever saw in vmk.
Also some people have pointed out that they do not reply to E-mails.
Now let me think what was the game that had the contact us system named The Black Hole? Why it was vmk !!
Come on people play and help them , or just do not play.
I do not understand why people play a game they do not like, there are plenty to choose from.
Support them together, do not trash them.
 
Yeah, VFK has a lot of bugs but what I think a lot of people are complaining
about is the lack of communication going on.. But VMK never had good
communication either so..
 
Well about the guest thing,

unless they set up a system to auto approve names, some staff member has to go through say 45,000 names that may still be guest and manually approve them?

Just a thought they are prob working hard to fix it but idk.
 
the ppl with the titles that havent been approved either had spaces or have problems with them... i think once the public release opens or whatever you will get a chance to change your password and name in the game...
 
it's not just about the bugs, dude...it's the fact this game is going further away from what they billed themselves as, and it's the lack of communication with the developers to the staff...

June 18th, 2008

This is a special thank you to all of our beta testers who so graciously participated in our first two Quests. These were a major milestone in our development process and the information we gained from the Quests has been fantastic.

The Quests bring together many of the technologies and make testing them under load a reality. We thought we would share with you some of the more exciting results from our two Quests.

One of the most important tests we were able to perform with the Quest was the use of the trading engine. The award of the prizes used the trading engine and with literally 10's of thousands of trades, many of which were simultaneous, there was not a single error. Thank you all so much for making this test possible.

We also want to thank you for doing these Quests without the benefit of a map. However, we needed to do these Quests before we added the map to complete the tests. In particular we were able to test multiple simultaneous teleports from a room, multiple simultaneous teleports into a room, massive simultaneous click requests to move in a room to a location or to select an object, and large chat loads in a room. From this data we were able to reduce the memory requirements on the servers by over 7 times.

We were also able to test what happens when 100's of thousands of items are placed in rooms, moved around and then removed from the room and placed back in inventory, almost simultaneously. After analyzing the databases we are pleased to report that not a single item was lost. We did have 15 items which were placed in rooms we would have never imagined possible. One was a "pink couch" in an Audubon Wildlife Adventure room. We changed the code to prevent this from happening again and put the couch back in the person's inventory :-)

Last week we re-factored our primary 3d engine which made it faster, more accurate and more stable. These Quests also allowed us to test these new developments, and again, everything went perfectly.

There were a great many more metrics which we collected, most of which are very mundane and boring, but because of this data we have spent the last two days making enhancements based on the information gathered from the Quests.

We hope the great prizes our graphics team created especially for these Quests show how much we appreciate your help during these beta tests and our heart felt thanks.

So, in the future, when anyone uses a teleporter, makes a trade, places something in their room, or even just goes from room to room, you can tell them that you were part of the Beta Quests which made this all possible.

We have a fun Quest planned for this weekend which should allow us to complete the cycle of development. The great news is that this means we will finally have a map and your hard work of trudging through the kingdom will have paid off! However, we will miss seeing the garden so full of people everyday about to go out into the kingdom.

Again, thank you all so much for your help in making this new world a reality, and thank you for your help in our Quests.

PS. As an interesting side note, the bug which makes it possible to have different size characters after changing clothes or hair is the result of a single line of code. However, it seems that everyone is enjoying this, so we will leave it a bit longer. If you haven't experienced this bug, make sure you do before it is removed.

PPS. We also thought we should share with everyone a bug in the Audubon Wildlife Adventure game. The bug is that the last option in the multiple choices is never correct. So, on the second level, it is always the first choice. It may not seem like a lot of credits each game, but if you just play it consistently for an hour you will discover you have over 3,000 credits. This is because the game restarts quickly and because of the bug you can almost always make over 50 credits per game. The worst case is that you will end up knowing a lot more about our natural wildlife, not to mention being able to impress your friends with your knowledge of birds! :-)

I can say I wrote to VMK contact us, got canned response, and when I responded to that I got nothing...VMK black hole.

I wrote to VFK contact us, got a personal email, with a phone number. Called the phone number, spoke with real live person (omg!) and got results :cool1: . Then sent another email to them thanking them and adding a suggestion, and received another personal email. Another friend sent an email and recieved a response back with correction made in game immediately. That's one up in my book! :thumbsup2
 
I'm sorry but did I just read that players enjoy a bug so much that even tho they have identified it, they aren't going to fix it yet?

Well I guess thats good news because the game comes out of test mode in 7 days.
