Lets do a weekend recap.

Friday:
-I call out to team members for maze wall harvesting.
-The castle is born
-3 Hours @ red mickey
-A quest is installed as a "Thank you" to people for waiting in a 25+ person line.


Saturday:
-Castle opens at VMK opening, and stays in the top 3 for close to 11 hours straight.
-2 8 hour quests gave 60 total prizes.
-Line reaches it's record at 35 people to get in.


Sunday:
-Castle opens at VMK opening, and stays in the top 3 for close to 6 hours straight.
-2 8 hour quests gave 55 prizes.


Staff visits:

So there you have it. A room that even a precentage of VMK employment came to see, and yet still, not worthy enough for an award. This room and all the people who helped supply and support it not only got robbed, but slapped. Right in the face.

Why am I bothered? I had my heart set on giving my BFF (dizpinfriend) the extra VIP that the castle would have recieved, as she's been with me, behind the scenes, ever since the days of Virtual Haunted Mansion and Virtual Splash Mountain. Big time bummer.

I almost fell out of my chair when I saw you didn't win. What were they thinking? I guess yavn noddded off in the Banquet Hall and totally forgot to write your name down.. That is just plain Crazy with a capital C.

I don't know if you noticed, but disneyfanlv mentioned that her room was open 3 weeks ago. I'm not sure they always give the awards the following week a room is open. I've heard of and seen others that didn't get theirs for 2 or 3 weeks after a staff visit. I think you are premature on your assumption of no prize. Just my two cents.

Ye I have been trying with rooms I have had open for 3 weeks or 2 months and still never won an award take example for my churro room I had 4 or 5 staff come and no award I kept trying but it has been 2 months

Im sorry but I see nothing really special about the room, yes it is a nice room and a nice setup, but really... so? I see LOTS of rooms with great setups etc, why should you get a pin over them?

While your room is very nice, maybe they have a bit of a wait to get people to get best guest, quest, etc. As Jewel said, Disneyfanlv didn't get her award for several weeks.

Also, maybe they are trying to spread the wealth. You've won different things many times before. People know you are a great room builder, and will look for the things you create. I think it's nice when I see other names up there.

If you were happy with your room, and proud to be able to show it to others, then that should be enough of a reward.

I know that Disneyfanlv had hers open a while ago, so maybe they'll roll you
out an award at a later date. I''ve been trying like a banshee to get either
best Guest or Game (most recently Game) to earn my VIP pin award.

If I get it, great! If I don't get it, well....I'll just keep trying.

Don't sweat it, dude. You've already gotten the Full Enchilada.

Oh yeah, that means I need to run my quest again too...LOL.

Hi,
I must say it was a very nice room but as others have said there are MANY very nice rooms on VMK. Many people are after the awards that are given each week. I know my son has been building and trying to win best guest room for months. He has many staff come in and visit as many as 4 or 5 different ones. They stay a bit joke around and visit with everyone in the room. Does this mean it will or should win? No. Who knows what they are looking for. Just because staff visits it does not mean it is a shoe in to win.

I have been trying to teach my son that it is not all about the winning. He should be proud of what he has built and be excited and happy that staff come to visit as we all love to sit and talk with staff. Not an easy lesson to to teach as he so badly wants that acknowledgement of winning by wearing the cute pin they give you.

Your post made me sad as we all know that the staff read the boards and what will they think when they read this. My guess is they probably get sick of the whinning. Not everybody can win and not everybody can win all the time.

Be proud of your work, don't expect rewards, enjoy the popularity of your room as many would die to have their room that busy and make your friends that helped you feel good about what they accomplished with you rather then help them feel bad that they were "overlooked" were they? No you said yourself look at all the staff that showed up.

Great work by a great builder but don't ruin it by whinning. And remember that you have fellow Disers that have won and be happy to congratulate them

I hate to break it to you, but I received the VIP pin in March, and sometime in the last few months VMK made them untradeable.

Wow, Ranch. I'm sorry you feel cheated. I have to agree with most everyone else here. There are a LOT of amazing rooms, games and quests out there. I, myself have been trying to win best guest and quest...to no avail. You will never know what one thing staff is looking for. I'm glad vmk is spreading the wins around. It gives us all incentive to build a better room, create a better game or quest. Is it disappointing to learn your room didn't make the cut? Sure! But I am also glad someone deserving won.
FYI: It can take staff a while to choose a new winner. Especially when there are more than a few rooms that catches their eyes.
There are many players who have been in your position. Enjoy the kind words from other players and the satisfaction of building an amazing quest. You shouldn't need any reward or validation from the staff. Your reward should be the pleasure you feel every time someone finishes your quest and stops back to thank you for making it.

I would to win best guest just once for any of my rooms, one being my Amusement Place. I have been told by many how much fun they have while there. I actually had a visit from VMK_Lion last week -- my first staff visit. But I don't do much to try and win best guest. All I do is just have fun while in my room. I open it to others, and hope they enjoy it just as much as I do. If I ever win, I would be surprised...because there are so many more creative rooms than mine. As long as you enjoy your room, that should be all that matters.

While it is nice of you to want to "share the wealth" with your friend, I don't think you should make it sound like the current winner was somehow less than worthy and that you were somehow "cheated" of an award. I know of many brilliant, creative rooms out there that have never been seen by anyone but the owner and a few select friends. Heck, EngineerTiger has an entire kingdom that grew out of my original Blue Castle (yes, I built the first VMK castle way back in beta and have added to it ever since) and the cohesiveness of his design is amazing.

It is not easy to determine the criteria used by Staff in judging (formal room competitions anyone) and it may be that the room selected was the "ideal of the day" kind of thing. Patience will win out so just keep trying if you want an award for your friend.

Ranch, I have to agree with others who have posted here; this is an award that tends to elude you if you try to look it in the eye. I was glad to see you finally got recognition for your amazing Virtual WDW quests. There are so many others who I feel deserve room/game/quest awards as well. But just like a beauty pageant, the VMK room judging can't help but be subjective. No matter; it doesn't take an award for me to be in awe of the tremendous talent I see displayed by people I know.

I agree with you Bev. Maybe the whole team should have pulled together and gave the stuff to the best friend to decorate her own room.

Ranch, I'm sorry you didn't get what you had hoped, but in my opinion, I don't think you were robbed. After all, you did get staff and held 3 star status for a long time. Congratulations, that is an accomplishment in itself.

I forgot to add that Parrots of the Caribbean is a beautiful room, well
deserving of the award. Do we know how long ago that player created it?

Perhaps there's a lag from when that room was put together and then winning
the award this week.

Oh, and I'm impressed by the high traffic and staff visits you've had to your
room. I don't think many people here (I know I can't!) can say that they've
had that many staff come to see their rooms.

Congrats on having that achievement!

Build the room for your own satisfaction. Create the quests to spread good vibes through VMK. Win the award as a bonus. Otherwise, you will be disappointed.

There's a lot of cool stuff out there. Yours is cool too. Don't let an award or lack thereof be your measuring stick. I have built a few rooms that I think are worthy of an award. I have never received one, but I didn't build it for that purpose, so, no big deal.

Sorry you are disappointed. I hope you find a smile in the fact that you added to other vmk players' fun.
