Just read that is on a loop & not on demand as we had last year with Delta. How many film does it usually show and does it have games? Last year I loved Bookworm and DH & DS enjoyed the quiz & Poker.

not all the systems have games, it depend on what plane you get, I think there is about 8 films not sure however enough to choose from. They also have tv channels with one for the kids.

Thanks Claire, not sure which plane we are on, just know the seat config is 3-4-3 & it's the late one both ways.

I *think* its the Manchester planes which have games. I've flown 3 times from Gatwick and never had any games.

We fly MAN-MCO and last time we didn't have game on the way out but DID on the way back :)

:goodvibes

Manchester and Gatwick use the same planes on rotation. There is two types of systems used and one of them doesn't have games.

There is no way to say if you have the games or not as they won't tell what plane they are using for secuirty reasons.

We have had games 5 out of 6 times though the 5 times were the same plane.

Yes they do rotate the planes - we flew out of Gatwick last year and didnt have any games, but there were enough films to choose from (we had no technical problems either) to keep me occupied :)

I flew out of Gatwick last year and had games. The channels were playing up on my TV set so the games were a godsend.
Played at least 3 hours worth of Tetris:rolleyes1

The A340-600 which are used on the Heathrow-Miami route all have the 'v;port' on-demand system.
There are some 747-400 (config 3/4) which also have the 'v;port' system -the ones on the Miami route do, though our upcoming flight got changed from a 747-400 to the A340-600, so perhaps the 747 is being phased out on that route...

I flew from/to Manchester with Virgin last year and there were no games. Our systems weren't working at all on the outgoing flight, so we just had to read etc.

I would make sure you take something else to do as Virgins inflight entertainment can be temperamental.

There are now 6 planes flying from LGW/MAN and only 2 have games!

Thanks. My DS has a laptop, psp & ds. I dare say he'l let me use one if need be.

Wow, glad I read this thread.

Will be sure to take a book or two with me in case there's any of these problems. I really hope we have films at least! Passes time, that's for sure!

We travelled on 2 different planes, for our trip this Jan, and both had films on demand. The smaller plane we were on for the outward trip definately had games, but I didn't look on the way home, as sleep was a preferable option!

i when with virgin in 2005 and on the way out we had games but not coming back i think its just pot luck which plane you get, we normaly take are ds's with use and a puzzel book or mags, but have never had any problems with the inflight entertanint, and found they had all the lates film out on dvd on the film chosies and plenty to do, the flight went so fast the time just flow by.

Lucky you! I used to just sleep in my pre-child days. Now I rely heavily on the inflight entertainment to endure the flight. Otherwise by the end of it I could as well have checked my head into hold luggage! :lmao:

Travelling with a child is SO different... we considered checking him into the hold... ;)
