We might just be a possible for this - we're in NoVa, and it can take hours to get to Richmond, depending on the traffic, but we also have ties to Williamsburg and might be able to make a weekend of it. I'll stay tuned!

If you leave Northern Virginia before 3:00 PM on a weekday, it only take 1 and a half hours to get to Richmond. Now granted this would be on a Saturday. But if our meet is in the afternoon and you leave by 10:00 AM you won't get stuck in all the traffic. My husband used to live in Alexandria and the one thing we learned was when to leave before all the traffic.... I know you know what I am talking about...

I would be interested if in Richmond. We live in Staunton, which is in the Shenandoah Valley. Williamsburg might be a bit too far, but might be able to make it work. Keep me posted.

Hi Stacy:

We are putting ideas together for the Dis Meet. And yes some do involve GKTW. I am trying to secure a location in Richmond before I post any details. If you are interested in attending, let us know. Unfortunately, the location I am trying to get will be limited in the number of people that can attend. Richmond just doesn't have a lot of community spaces without costing a lot of money.

We are hoping to post details with in the next couple of weeks.

I am still working on a location. Short Pump would be a great place but because it is a public area we can't really do a lot of activities per say. I guess if people just want to meet, have lunch, and donate to GKTW, then it would work. I have checked with local libraries and it is a pain to be able to bring food in. I checked with the Richmond Convention Center, Dogwood Dell Park, and Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens and if we don't want to raise money for GKTW and donate the money to the major expense to one of these places then it might work. I have even looked into V.C.U. and University of Richmond, but you have to have a sponsor from a group club to sponsor our event. If anyone has a student who attends one of these schools and can help, let us know.

Why isn't there a Dis Meet bank account where we can borrow money from......???

If anyone has another idea or has looked into a meeting place please let us know.

I wish I did...I called a Golden Corral today, and they made me a nice offer. Melissa is checking out the Mall in Short Pump...we will have something soon.

Unfortunately in this area the fire departments don't let you rent out their rooms unless it is for something like voting. They used to, but not anymore. Thank you Lois for the idea.
