Can someone put my mind at ease.

I think I have selected seats for my family but the virgin site is so poorly designed its hard to tell if I actually have them.

I've had no conformation email and the only option I have is "view or change seats". When I click that it takes me to the seat selection page.

When you log onto view or change seats there should be a list of your names and the seat numbers you picked. The seat map should also highlight in red the ones you have reserved. Give them a rung if your not sure.

They don't email you.

If you log back you will see the seat numbers next you to your names :thumbsup2

Just be aware that seat requests are just that...requests. They aren't guaranteed, and can be changed by the airline upon actually checking in at the airport or online. We have had our requests amended a couple of times at check-in!!

Me too on our return leg last year. Got put in the bubble PE and had booked downstairs.

Yeah we didn't get our requests. Was a fairly quiet flight and we checked in the night before. Got moved about ten rows back from where we requested

I thought I had read earlier in the year that they were going to start charging for seat allocations around June, if so what happened to that?

It is still the plan to have customers pay for pre-booking seats but the new system has not been put in place...yet. The website says it is coming soon.

Thanks for all of the responses. I normally fly with BA and their seat selection process is very clear and easy.

Any time I go onto my Virgin booking and click to view my seat choices it makes me feel as though someone else could take my seats whilst I'm looking at them(can they?).

But they also charge you for the privilege! I will happily put up with VAs system as long as they don't charge ;)

Not if you've selected and confirmed the seats.

We've been changed twice though in the past, once at check in, and once we got paged 15 minutes before boarding to be issued with new boarding passes (we refused them on that occasion as the location was far inferior to the one we chose, they ended up moving someone else).

I booked our flights a few weeks ago and phoned them to ask about the charge. I was told that if flights have been booked they will not be charged for seat requests and it was still not ascertained if it was going to happen due to complaints!!! But we all know VA!
I do not mind where we sit as long as not at the back again as never any choice in food not that its that good anyway.

FWIW, we were in row 16 in PE on the Tuesday VA flight and they'd already run out of our first choice!

I never pay when choosing a seat with BA. I just wait until a week out and you can choose a seat free of charge. Hardly anyone takes the paid option and whenever it comes to selecting a seat for free, 99% of seats are normally still available. I just like the fact that with BA once you have chosen seats, they clearly show on the manage booking page unlike on the Virgin one.

Another reason I wont be going PE again. I had to have a childs meal as they only had vegetarian left and it had mushroom in which im allergic to lol. We had a man stood by us with his rear end in my face talking to the cabin crew at the back for most the flight with a loud liverpool accent which I love but not continual. Not good that you pay a lot more and get a worse experience than economy. Oh and my tv did not work. Moan over
