I've just been looking on the website to see how much it would cost to upgrade to PE for our flights next year (this is through Virgin HOLIDAYS) and our flight isn't coming up as available for PE.

Does this mean it is fully booked already and if so, are VH likely to get more allocation from VA? They have PE available on later flights but we prefer to get the first flight of the day.

I am almost certain that it does not mean the entire PE cabin is fully booked at this early stage. Like you say, perhaps Virgin Holidays allocation has been booked up. If you give them a call, then they might be able to check if they can upgrade your seats for you - I don't see why they could not simply get more from VA. One way to check if PE is sold out or not, is to type your dates into the Virgin Atlantic website to see if the actual cabin itself is booked up, rather than just the VH allocation of seats.

im thinking of upgrading my flight to PE when we gt to the airport (if they have any left which is probably unlikely but i can hope!) as we are going out to plan a WDW wedding etc just wondered if anyone could give me an idea as to how much this would cost for 1 way per person?

Thanks - we fly out on 12th August (VS027) and back 2nd Sep (VS028). Looks like VA have availability for PE on the outbound flight (return flight not yet available to book) but not VH, according to their website.

Because VA can get a higher price for them by selling direct to pax, as opposed to the contract price for VH. If VA allocated all the tickets to VH, then it could be argued that the flight was then a charter flight and not a scheduled flight.

VH have an allocation of seats in the same way that every ticket class has. Once these are used up, prices get quoted at the next highest ticket etc.

We've upgraded and are flying out on 1 Oct - it cost us roughly an extra £300 to do it (we booked a year ago so can't remember exact numbers but in my opinion its money well spent, we were able to pre-book our seats about 5 months ago so we're sitting in the "bubble" bit of the plane. We did it last year for Vegas and it was fab.

Some people have recommended the First Choice premium economy too.
