Virgin or BA?

Which would you choose to fly from Gatwick to Orlando - Virgin or BA. I've only flown Virgin lately, but the prices are the same for my flight in March. I could only find a recent article relating the two on a flight to Asia.

There is very little to choose between them, in my experience, particularly in the Economy cabins.

For me, the significantly more generous hand luggage allowance is a winner for me for BA. I use my hand luggage to mop up plenty of bits I won't trust to my suitcase on the return journey, and a 23kg weight limit means I don't need to worry about it! I don't find long plane flights comfortable, and as I can't afford anything beyond economy, I just know I'll be uncomfortable (I'm tall!) whenever I fly anyway.

No idea what BA are like now. We flew with them once transatlantic (MAN~NYC) not good at all, aircon leaked on me the whole flight, staff couldn't care less, nothing to go by as it was in 2003.
We don't have a BA option from Manchester, if we did I would probably choose VA due to me having lots of airmiles, none with BA. no other reason really they both get you there and back with a very similar service.

There's not a great deal of difference in economy although I do prefer VA in order to get the miles. I also find that the crew are generally more approachable.

Not LGW to MAN but flew similar long haul distances with both VA and BA in 2015. No significant difference; book whichever is cheaper. BA was significantly late but they ensured we arrived at our final destination within a reasonable time and dealt with the large number of passengers who had missed their connections efficiently. VA was better than the previous year when both flights were late and there was no IFE for one leg; no problems this year. We are BA in 2016, just on price.
