Virgin Megastore

If your thinking of the DTD Virgin megastore then you can get better prices from the likes of Wal mart and Target. You can get bargins there but these days with the internet, I find it hard to beat prices offf Amazon and Play.com

You won't be getting any bargains at the virgin megastore, unless in a sale. It is aimed soley at holidaymakers.

Walmart and Target have good prices, but have a limited stock and only chart artists.

The Megastore is huge and is useful for getting the harder to find older stuff that may not even be in print over here. As has been said not cheap but if you really want something it is great.

Claire ;)

I thought you could get CD's for like $10 (about £6) which is cheap compared to the £20 HMV and Virgin charge over here. Or have they put the prices up since 2004?

Compared to the £20 Virgin charge, yes you can get cheaper, but it tends to be first week releases that are on offer or older cds no-one buys anymore.

Thats a really good point, the amount I have bought by just browsing. Once I bought so much I had to spread them amongst 4 suitcases and our hand luggage!!

I have never found this store cheap
but then the boys alway spend there money here
US PS2 games will not work over here

Exactly what my DH says who likes some obscure things :teeth:

I've found for DVDs and CDs you can probably get stuff just as cheap on the internet.

I did find that Nintendo DS games did work out a lot cheaper in the US though :)

Tim - where would you recommend? I have always thought this would be the case but have struggled to find anywhere that we can pick up a bargain. All the WalMarts we tried had a very small range :( I think we may be missing the best places to look.

Any tips welcome please

Karen, Vicki had some great bargains last year, from a shop in the Florida Mall, she managed to pick up 3 or 4 DS games for $19.99 each, including at that time Nintendogs which were not out here when she got them. However I cant remember the name of the shop, I will ask Vicki when she gets home from work. :goodvibes

The Virgin Megastore (and it really is a megastore) is almost a destination in itself and well worth a visit (I enjoy browsing the books, magazines, t-shirts, toys as much as the CDs and DVDs), but I agree that it's not the place for bargains.

I have purchased several DVDs there because I could not find the movies I wanted elsewhere. (I like movie musicals, and they usually have a good selection.) But, as others have posted on here, the prices are on the high side. When an item is for sale on Amazon, that's where I buy it.

Enjoy.

Thanks Sue. Any DS game for $19.99 is a bargain I have to say!
