Hi all! Have just tried to get a price for a holiday to Disneyworld through the Virgin Holidays web site and am being told that there are no flights available for my dates (6th to 27th August 2012). Have tried these dates previously and there has been lots of availability. Anyone else having this problem or is it just the website throwing a wobbly?

Just tried for 3 adults on those dates no problem from either Manchester or Gatwick, crazy prices but available. £6576.07 for OKW

I am keeping an eye on the fly drive prices and today getting the same as you - there are no flights available for dates chosen - must be a glitch their end as I've put in all dates from end of July til end of August 2012!

Hi i'm getting somewhere now! I'm now looking at flydrive options and have amended my dates to 19th July to 16th August 2012, flying out economy and returning PE with a full size car and insurance for the grand total of £5312.95! These prices are scary but I think the price will only go up!
Any thoughts?

How many people?
If you are wanting free dining that does not start until 1st August.
Do you have any VA airmiles? I booked Miles & Money this August(5th-28th) £880pp going out eco, return PE.

Hi Wayne, it'll be for 4 adults. Haven't checked miles plus money yet, will do that in a minute - still looking at all the options! Not too worried about getting free dining as we spend time travelling around so we tend to eat a lot of meals off site or cater for ourselves in our accommodation.

FS car for 4 weeks will cost about £500, knock that off and they are quoting you about £1,200pp for the flights.

Its too early to book Miles and Money yet, I didn't book until mid Oct for this August.

and forgetting that flights only can't be booked yet!!

Some people like to book early and pay a premium so they don't have to think about it again, personally I don't start looking until 11 months out, often a lot less.

Thanks for your comments Wayne - I have friends wanting to go next summer like us and they are booking now. I was starting to get a bit panicky but you've made me feel better about waiting a while!
Packages seem so expensive and can't offer us times and accommodation I really want and fly drive prices high so hoping to book separately.
Can I ask who you use for car hire as your prices seem very good?

You really need exact dates to get the best quote I just did a random 4 week quote for this August, carhire3000 1st-29th August = Dodge Charger (full size) £521.55 less 7% Quidco = £485.04. When you are ready for booking post your dates/car size and best price so myself or others can look and see if there are any better deals around

Just out of interest, does anyone know what Virgin would offer (if anything) if the package price did drop between now and the 11 month date? If you book before June 6th this year for next year (selected dates) you get 300 DisneyDollars free which is tempting me

Put your feet up and wait. There is no point in booking a fly drive with VH. They purposely price these at daft money to get the panicky types to over pay and book up early.

Wait for the airlines to release their standard flights at 350 days from return. You will get a far better price and there will be availability. There always is (unless you are flying virgin from Glasgow). THen get car hire separately. You will pay far less that doing it with VH.

Hi, I am a big fan of virgin flights and would like to point out that they do usually sell out well in advance for the peak holiday times and there is rarely a reduction in price. The advantage of booking a fly drive with virgin holidays is that you only have to pay a deposit to start with. If you book flights direct with the airline or on sites such as expedia you will have to pay the full cost upfront. Makes a big difference if your holiday is still at least 12 months away.

Yes I agree with the above but for the same flights with VA direct I would have saved £800. If planning that far in advance then isnt it better to save so much a month? Like I said I do agree as I asked this question when I booked.I did book with CO as they do tailor made holidays and as Virgin Holidays wanted £2890 for my flights and CO wanted 1653 I decided to book with them. VH package for 5 nights (as doing a cruise and dvc) free ddp okw was £4985.Paid £ just over £3150 with CO. Deposit was £75 per person and 20% of tickets so £584. Dont know how VH justify their prices.
