Just wondering if anyone has managed to do this?

I've just done a dummy booking for our date, and one way is priced at 1,507 per adult :scared1: from Manchester on VS075.

If we try to upgrade on the day, would prices be any better?

Thanks for any help :goodvibes

I too have been looking at upgrading over the last few months, but i've been quoted £1200 extra for the four of us, one way:scared1: Me personally i'd do £75 pp extra, top whack. Looks like its economy then:rotfl:

We have. The prices for the Easter weekend that we were travelling were not bad but PE upgrades were ridiculous. I decided we would settle for economy unless there was a better offer at check in. There was and we duly took advantage of it on the day for less than half the price it would have cost us had we done it in advance. However the next year I thought we would try the same thing and even trying to do it in advance, there was nothing available on our flight so if you are happy to go economy if it comes to that, and willing to take the gamble, I think it is well worth it. If you are set on travelling PE, not sure I would risk waiting

I think a PE upgrade would be pleasant, but nonessential :thumbsup2

I'll chance it on the day. I'd probably go to 100pp but that seems ambitious at the moment, lol :)

I think PE is worth more so I would pay more if given the chance (and if it was in budget). We paid £150 per person in 2008 or 2009 at the check in desk (I am a bit hazy as to which year it was). So you might be a bit ambitious, but I am a firm believer in keeping hope alive at all times :cool1:

we tried on the day for Vegas last October and it was still mega expensive, so settled for the extra leg room seats on the way out and the emergancy exit ones on the way back!:)

I thought after I posted, extra legroom is often overlooked but in terms of comfort, not that different from PE. It's also worth a look at the airport as they do discounts on the day of these too

We flew from Glasgow this Easter and were told it would be £250 per person so we stayed in Economy ;)

I think the extra leg room ones cost us about £30 each..tbh it only gave us about 1 1/2 inches of extra leg room but it really did make a difference. Don't really like the emergancy exit ones on the way back because they tend to be quite noisey and people also use the space to stand right in front of you..

Glasgow is harder as they don't fly all year round like they do from the major airports. That was the flight I mentioned where it was sold out!

I've only ever seen PE upgrades on the day for £250 per person (one way). We were going to do it once but they had sold out by the time we had got to the front of the line.

Hi, we upgraded to PE at Manchester airport in December there was 6of us traveling + an infant and we paid £199each for 4seats & used some miles for the other 2seats.

I did not know that you could use miles at the airport for an upgrade! I just learned something new!

We were offered an upgrade 150 pp in may 09 as we were going to get married thought why not special occasion except when we got on the plane it seemed like the whole plane had been upgraded kids running up and down aisle stewardesses begrudgingly serving . We have flown premium with first choice cheaper but much better service

I only have 2,000 Virgin air miles, which probably won't go far towards getting 7 PE seats!! Lol
