If I join the Frequent Flyer club am I credited the miles of my whole booking, or just the miles for my individual flight?

And what's the deal with companion flights? It "costs" 40,000 miles to fly round trip ecomomy to Orlando, but is only 20,000 for my "companion" if I pay the standard fare! Is this just one way? Could I ever use this method to pay for DHs flight, if paying proper money for me and the children?!

Enquiring minds need to know! TIA

We've only just joined but, from what I understand, you get miles for your own journey.
If other members of the trip join they get credited to their own accounts - but not small children , who don't qualify for miles.
The rest I don't know - sorry :-)

It is 20,000 for a companion ticket, but you must pay the full price fare. The price can be obtained from Flying club customer services. I have found that it works out to be not a great saving, as you cannot get the cheap flights. We have been members for years and have accummulated enough for 5 ecom tickets. However I am trying to save more so we can get PE tickets at 60000 each! One point you are allowed to book the journey in two seperate bits, i.e. 20000 each way. This will allow you to get the tickets you want on the day of release. They only have a certain allocation of tickets on each flight. The other way to use your miles in miles and money. This will allow you to book tickets discounted by using some of your miles. This can work out cheaper and you can use miles in one account for other members of the family.

Thank you both. :)

Disney BB - I was very interested in the Miles and Money idea. Until I saw that it can only be done on flights from London, NOT from Manchester!!

Each person travelling has to join in order to collect the points! Last year I combined my flying club points with my DH points and got him a return ticket for approx £50 (that was the cost of the airport tax)!! :teeth:

Ring and check. I know people who do miles plus money from Manchester.

MAN to MCO are sometimes available. remeber a M+M fare is a discounted fare and if the airline can fill tghe seatr without doing it they will. You just have to keep an eye on it.
besides Gatwick is much better to fly from than manchester pirate: :earboy2:

I know on some airline frequest flyer schemes you can buy points to make up a total, do you know if you can do this with Virgin?

No. that is why they have the Miles Plus money fares.
What they will allow you to do sometimes (I have done it myself), is "borrow" miles from an upcoming booked flight to make up the miles you need, or let you use your miles to pay for your childrens/partners upgrade.

Also, you cannot buy Clubhouse access for a year, such as Continental, American etc, but they sometimes allow a one off entrance at a fee. If you have children under a certain age, Manchester does not have its own Virgin clubhouse, they share with other airlines and none of the clubhouses allow children under a certain age in, wheras at the Gatwick Virgin Clubhouse they do.
