Is it worth being a member? My DF and I have both just joined as the direct Virgin flight MAN-MCO is great for us, and we also stay at a lot of the Hilton family hotels so as they are one of the partner companies we thought it might be a good idea :cool1:

You've got nothing to lose, that's for sure. We've taken many discounted flights using miles earned. The headliners are probably the flights we've just booked for October this year (£570 each for PE compared with the £700+ we were looking at for PE) and our flights last April/May (into Washington DC and home from Orlando) which we got completely free! Reward flight spaces are pretty limited, but, as you can see, it's certainly possible to get them. I think they do just enough to keep you coming back - which is presumably the idea! If all we did was accumulate worthless miles, we probably wouldn't stick with Virgin.

Thanks Deb, like you say, we've got nothing to lose!

Hi,
We got two Upper Class tickets to L A for the cost of the taxes using Flying Club miles. If companies want to give me stuff for nothing I will gladly take it.

Mick.

:smooth:

The only thing i will say though is to watch what you book. Certain flights do not qualify for points ( i think these are the cheapest economy prices and sale prices?)

Thanks, I expected there will be exceptions :goodvibes

I think Virgin have just changed some of their Flying Club conditions so that now all paid for flights earn some miles. Unfortunately they've also put up the amount of miles required for some flights, Orlando is now 50,000 instead of 40,000. It's still well worth while of course.

We also have a Virgin credit card which earns us miles for every pound we spend. We are going to WDW in August and got one flight using miles and a free companion flight for spending over a certain amount on our card this year. All we had to pay for was one flight plus taxes for the other two. :Pinkbounc

I booked flights only last week and they hadnt then :confused3
Wish they would though, every little helps lol!

According to the Frequent Flyer web site discounted economy fares (Class N) qualify for 50% of the normal miles. They also say that all 'revenue flights' earn miles. I thought this meant all paid for flights :confused3 These changes were made on 1st March so I must have got it wrong.

We have always received miles for discounted flights (100%, not 50%), even though their terms and conditions suggested otherwise. The only flights we didn't receive miles for were the totally free rewards flights. When dh booked our companion PE flights last week, he was told we would receive miles for the revenue flight, but not for the (free) companion flight.

I've never received miles for my N class flights I've used but now they're changing that it'll be a lot better!
