Hi, we fly virgin for the 1st time in 5 days...

i just looked at the booking online and it seems that the seats we chose many months ago have been changed??? :confused3

We chose seats in row 62 where they are a row of 2 seats only, this was important to us. The pre allocation all went fine.

I can now see that the outnound flight shows no booked seats at all - it says seats wil be allocted on check in?

Our seats on the return flight have been completely changed to row 32 - an isle seat and a middle seat! I am really not very happy with this as being able to choose our seats was one of the reasons we chose virgin. :(

Has this happened to anyone else? any suggestions? :confused3

Seat allocations are only a request and can be changed due to plane changes or other technical reasons.

Even when your allocated seats are in the system they can still be re-allocated to some one else at check in - there are no real guarantees :(

The only way to make sure you get the seats you want is to use on-line check in the day before your flight and/or use twilight check in, or get there very early on the morning of your flight.

Yes they are not guaranteed but i am also annoyed.Ours have been changed as well.I also pre-requested the 2 sets of 2's at the back and they have now completley changed inbound and outbound for us-Thanks Virgin. Our family of 4 are now seperated across the aisle.x.

this is so frustrating :(

i wish they would just leave out the opion of pre allocation if they were going to change it anyway! I am so sorry for you, at least there is only me and DH so no worries of bein seperated I HOPE :confused3

looks like we wil have to rely on online check in and keep our fingers crossed.

not a good start :(

i went on a couple of days ago and we had also been moved out of the sets of 2s, but they were still allowing row 61 to be chosen, these are also a set of 2:confused3

It happened to us last year and were told that it was just the way it was, they wouldnt change us back a check-in, I personally think all planes should do away with preseating as it gives everyone a greater chance of sitting with their party.

This appears to have been another Virgin "executive decision"

We've had rows 61 and 62 outbound and return booked from the day of release - row 61 was fine (which incidentally has the most side room) but our two seats in row 62 had been moved to the other side of the plane......... so reluctantly I gave up the 2 seats in Row 61 so that we could all be seated together :thumbsup2 to the lucky punters now sitting in row 61 on the 8th August and returning on the Bank Holiday!

Booo hisss! to Virgin yet again .......... and before you all say it .... yes, I know it's a request not a guarantee .... but it's p**ssed me right off!

When we got to Gatwick last month we had been moved, but it worked out quite well as we were put in extra legroom seats! It is annoying though when you go to all the effort of booking.

I always book my return seats as well and have NEVER ONCE had the seats I have booked on the return leg- think I just won't bother next year!

Plenty of threads about this elsewhere. It appears that VA have cottoned on to the popularity of the sets of 2 seats at the rear and are now "blocking" some of them from being pre-requested & have moved people who have requested them into other seats (and not necessarily together!). 'Reconfiguration' is, I think, the official explanation.

If you are a family of 4 why do you want 2 sets of 2 / Surely the four across the middle would be perfect, leaving the 2's for couples ???

well, whatever their official reasons are i am not happy and will be telling them this!

i honestly done see the point in allowing the pre allocation if they are just going to move you!

looks like we'll be back to another airline next year. :furious:

We are a family of 4 and for day flights ALWAYS choose to sit 2 and 2 - we have young 2 girls close in age and if you have heard them bickering when bored you would know why!!

Also, there are always more families on Florida school hols flights than couples, but not enough 4 together to seat them all.... If you go 2 and 2 you have a much better chance of them being close..

Night flights we try to sleep, so try for 3 and 1 with the 1 being an exit row so only bookable at check in (the next-day-driver gets to stretch out and perhaps even sleep...) the frazzled mum - me - gets to sweat profusely being cuddled by 2 sleeping kids - however she also suffers less jet lag having been awake all night :goodvibes.

We have lost row 62 on both our Sept/Oct 2008 flight & Jan/Feb 09 flights!!!!

It has happened to LOTS of people.

Really had enough of Virgin. I appreciate that they are not guaranteed but we actually chose the later flight as the seats we wanted were not available on the earlier one.

Even more annoying is that Virgin have confirmed that there is no one sat in them but we have to take our chance at check in.

We have been with Virgin for the last 4 years (twice a year) and always had the seats we pre-booked. Sorry Virgin but we will be looking elsewhere after jan 09!!!!!

Would rather pay a supplement to pre-book my seat!!!
