Virgin recently issued a VAA Flight Reduction cost on a lot of its bookings to the US. For ours it was a reduction of £190!

However at the same time they increased taxes by £20 and they also decreased our online booking discount from £140 to £60!! Thus our actual saving was only £90.....

On ringing Virgin and getting 'upset' with them (they chose to reduce the cost of the flights, why should we lose over half of our online booking discount???) they put the booking discount back to the original amount!!!

So we actually saved £170!!

Beware - your booking should probably have gone down by more, especially if you booked online!!!

We had paid the full fare and they refunded the correct amount onto our CC.

Login and check the prices on the booking now compared to when you booked. If they have not added the VAA then ring them. Stating that just because you chose to pay early does not mean you should not get this credit!

You do have to be very frank and stick by your point. I started by sending them a complaint letter Special Delivery (that way I could prove they had received it) and then called them the day after they received the letter to 'follow up' and find out what they were going to do about it.

yes me too, i have paid for flights for this aug with va so would be great if i could get a discount

I don't really understand either, I have just been on and quoted another flight. The Vaa adjustment appears to be adding money onto the price.

On our booking it says :- Vaa Flight Adjustment £-161.00 2 £-322.00

So ours has been taken off anyway? I presume.:goodvibes

Am I missing something?
My booking looks identical to the day I made it. It shows a discount of £40 per person, labelled simply as "Discount" and later on it shows the on-line booking discount of 10% - just as did in May last year.

I am confused! I booked a package with Virgin Holidays for May - can I get a refund for anything?!

We booked in May 08 for our Dec 09 trip (haven't paid the balance yet).

Will we qualify for this?

Unlikely as when we booked in August a week later the VAA adjustment was on the website and whne I rang I was told it was only for new bookings as I had agreed the contract at the higher price and that was what they were having to pay to VA.

Claire ;)

What you can do is make a small change / hotel, room, etc (pay £25/pp ) and then get the new flight prices (just check on line that it will still be cheeper even if you need to pay the £25pp). Use the UK all center not the Indian one phone 01293 496917 and state that you want to only be put through to the UK center. Good luck,

Hello All...

I will try and explain this...

We booked in May 2008 at the 'old' prices. Then around August/Sept 08 Virgin applied a VAA Discount to all NEW bookings from then onwards.

However they then back tracked and decided that all the old bookings would get the same discount. If your booking looks no different when you log in, make a change to your booking (perhaps change your contact phone number or email address - which is what we did). Your booking should then reflect the new prices and show a VAA price adjustment.

However when Virgin puts this adjustment on taking say £200 pounds (Example here only) off of a £1500 holiday you would think the new price would be £1300 - NO...
They then add some taxes, and remove some of your online booking discount, or other discounts.

So you think that when the new price comes up saying £1450 - you have got a great deal... when in fact it should be closer to £1300....

So put simply - print out your original booking details from your email or look up your invoices and check these against the new price and details....

Your booking should only have the VAA price adjustment applied and not the other charges....

Ours went - £1565 VAA adjustment - 190.00 equals - £1375.

However they reduced our online booking discount by £80 and added £40 in taxes.... making a total of £1495....

Myself and Virgin had a 'debate' on the phone and finally agreed at £1432...

Does anyone know if you get this refund if you booked through a third party for your flights,we are going august and booked through my bank

But what happens to those that have already paid in full for there holiday+can no longer make an adjustment online?.x.
