We've booked to go to AKL through Virgin in November. I haven't booked the Disney Dining Plan but I've read so much about it am now wondering if it might be a good move. Trouble is Virgin are charging 26 pounds per person per night for adults and 19 pounds per person per night for a child aged 3 - 9. On the Disney DIning Forum it says there that its $38 dollars for adults and $10.00 for children - a huge discount considering the exchange rate at the moment. Does anybody know if we can book the Dining Plan with Disney direct even though are travel arrangements and resort booking are with Virgin? :confused3

From what I understand if you booked with anyone other than WDW then the DDP cannot be added directly by the, you have to go back through your tour operator to book it.

Claire ;)

No, you have to book the DDP with whoever you booked your package (resort and ticket) with. We originally booked our whole package with Virgin, for our Oct trip. At the time we couldn't book the DDP through Virgin, so we decided to alter our booking. So we are now doing a fly-drive with Virgin and have booked our resort and ticket through Disney Uk. It worked out to be a really good deal for us!

£19 for a child is alot, we booked it for £6, where did virgin get £19 from!!!

I'd call the UK call centre and check the price, they have had a few bugs inthe system recently. It can't hurt to ask. Otherwise it may be worth looking at changing the Virgin booking to a fly drive only and then booking direct with disney for the hotel tickets and DDP. You'd need to do the maths to see if it worthwhile.

I called and they said that was there price. I think the woman at the call centre didn't have a clue what I was talking about so I emailed reservations. I can't understand why Disney, Thomas Cooks and First Choice all charge 6 pounds per child and Virgin want 19. I have now emailed Virgin so will see what they come back with there. I think if we cancel our booking we lose the deposit and as there are 8 of us that will be nearly 1000 pound. Just have to miss out on the dining plan this time. Just means we'll have to go again .... !!!

Hi,
I think it is disgusting that virgin is charging £13 more than everyone else, if you add that up over a 14night holiday it is costing over £182 more, that is a massive difference in price.
I hope that they bring the prices in line with other company's, good luck.

Hang on,
Why is it "disgusting"?? That is a ridiculous thing to write.

Are you forced to buy their products? Did someone from Virgin come round your houses and force you to buy the plan?
I take it you and others checked the prices against other companies out there?
If Virgin did not feel they could charge it they would not. its this cheap as chips attitude within the UK which is causing so many companies and jobs to go abroad, minimum profit so that you can have it the cheapest.
the fact of the matter is
That is Virgins price
You do not have to go with Virgin
Always look around before buying a product.

Yes, I did, I did not book with virgin, I booked the DDP for £22 per adult and £6 for a child, else where.
The price difference to what Disney and other companys charge for the DDP is a big difference in price not just a few pounds. It is like they have just pulled the price out of the air.

But the point is that you do not have to take it through VH. As you have done, there is plenty of choice out there. It's the comment "disgusting" which got my goat. Sorry. :)

I guess what I meant it that I am shocked and surpised at the price difference.

I suppose its down to what VH think they can get. If they were showing a lack of interest they would reduce their prices, or perhaps they don't want to sell the DDP?
I have never used VH we used to use Virgin travel but when that went we have always found CH to be expensive for what we wanted, flight only/Fly Drive so have never used them.

I think maybe the person the op spoke to gave the wrong infomation, as from the website I have worked the DDP for a child to be £9 per night.

I don't think it has anything to do with British attitude - I am very patriotic and use british companies (such as Virgin) wherever I can. I do however believe that NOBODY wants to be ripped off.

As it is I also checked the price on the internet and found it to be £9 per child so the £19 in the brochure is clearly a mis-print. It's a shame the customer services person at Virgin wasn't aware of this.

I feel the word "disgusting" is an appropriate one to use for how you attacked the person who used it in this thread. We are however still entitled to "freedom of speach" in Great Britain!

If you think you have freedom of speach in the UK then you must have been living under a rock for the past ten years! Are you not aware of the raft of laws removing your rights to many areas of free speach?

However, to take your parlance, it is my right under "freedom of speach" to criticise the use of the word disgusting.

So, being patriotic you use a company which uses a phone call centre in India, very patriotic that....
As for rip off, again, are you being forced to buy VH product and their price for the DDP?
If you don't like it, then dont buy it, its that simple.

This is exactly why I have chosen not to book the DDP with Virgin.

The Indian I spoke to then had an excellent London accent !!!!

....... or perhaps they don't want to sell the DDP?

this might be correct, as we tried to add DDP to our Virgin hols booking for Dec, but as we are staying at RPH, AKL and HI-IDrive and having a wedding package Virgin are unable to let us add DDP to our booking! We contacted Disney direct but they said that we could only do it thru Virgin. So we are not having DDP and will dine off-site for majority of our meals - so Disney and Virgin lose our money.
