Hi,
We are just coming to the end of a lovely three week stay in the sunshine state, chose our seats six months ago when we booked
(direct with Virgin Atlantic), however when doing online check in tonight for tomorrows flight I notice they have split us up. Strangely they have put our 7 year old son in a seperate row, we had been in a row of 4 - 3 adults (us and 17 year old son) and one child, now in row of three with one window seat in row behind.

I am a bit bemused as to why the seats would be changed at the last minute, not sure what to do now, get to the airport earlier (defeats the object of online checkin) and see if we can get 4 together or just turn up a couple of hours before take off and see what happens. I know its not a major issue, but it is irritating, presumably they have split us up for a reason, just cant think what it may be, any ideas?

It may be a change of plane/config or it might be a full flight and then they juggle to make best use of the seats.

They also don't consider that to be split up. They just allocate the seats to the booking not looking at which member of the party is in he odd one.

Can you do DTD check in - that might be the best chance of getting things moved however if you couldn't move them yourself at OLCI I am not sure you will be able to.

Aah, didnt realise sitting behind was classed as sitting together, the eldsest will sit behind but it will be a bit uncomfortable if he has to wake strangers to go to toilet etc, other than that not really a problem. Not going to bother going to airport early to try and change, as you say its probably unlikely that we will be able to. Thanks for the info.
