I phoned up to book our seats today only to be told that our flight on the 28th October 2003 at 11:15am had been cancelled. Virgin holidays said that they sent out a letter in the middle of February stating the changes in the flight. We never recieved any letter and were informed that we had to go via Miami to Orlando from Heathrow. The joke is they expected us to fly back into to Gatwick!!! I was not happy and got very upset over the phone, the lady I talked to was very nice, but could do nothing. I hung up to gather my thoughts and phoned VA to confirm how many seats they had left. They said they still had seats available on the later flight, but limited. They said that the 26th was available. I phoned and talked to the manager in customer services at Virgin Holidays, who was very helpfull, and she said that she would see what she could do. Well I got a call back a few hours later to say that Virgin had released some seats and we were changed over to the Sunday flight. Phew!!!

You can imagine how difficult it would be with a 3 year old trying to get back to Heathrow to pick up our car. Anyway it is all sorted now, I added two days onto my booking at BWV's and moved my Hilton booking.

So if you have a Tuesday flight booked on the 11:15am after September 2, check that it is still going. You may be like me and never got a letter!

Do you know what the reason for this flight cancellation is? Does it affect any other flights, we fly on the 11:15 on the 30th October, well I hope we do!!

Could you confirm what the significance of Sept 2nd is mentioned in your post - as you are going in October ?

Is this the date after which Virgin have cancelled all their 11.15am flights ?

Red Sanpper - VA said that it was only every 11:15 am flight after Sept 2nd on a Tuesday that was cancelled. I was not really given any reason why my flight was cancelled until I pushed. I was amazed that they were not bending over backwards to make sure that all the their customers were taken care off.

What I found really upseting was V.H. attitude to the fact that a letter was sent and that is all they have to do. I suggested that they should phone customers to check that they have recieved the letter, mind you this was when I thought it was only my flight that had been cancelled. They were not even willing to sort out transfers between Gatwick and Heathrow. I felt that if I had bought my ticket as a flight only then I would have been transfered to the later flight. V.H. had no more allocation on that flight so would/could not transfer me. They did ask V.A. to give them more allocation on the Sunday flight (26th). I think next time I will go flight only.

I am just so pleased that I tried to book my seats, as this was how I found out about my flight. Otherwise it would have been after I had paid.

In the end it actually worked out better as we have 2 more days in Disney!!!

sorry to hear this, as we 've had similar problems with UA:(

Glad its all sorted now:)

That is really woryying if you hadn't happened to call you wouldn't have known. My post often goes astray and for something of this importance I think a 'phone call was in order:(

Glad you got it sorted out though:p

Aww im glad you got it sorted in the end!!!!
Shame on them though!! "we cant do anything" attitude,is sickening!!!

A friend of Mine is flying to Orlando from Gatwick, not on a Tuesday at 11.15 and his flight has been cancelled also. He was moved to the 12.30 flight.

We're on a 12.30pm flight out of Gatwick to Orlando on the 14th, I suppose it might be a busy flight?

At this time of year they are always busy. It will probably be full.

I booked a 11.15 flight for 19th August a few weeks ago and all I could get were seats in PE (oh well guess I can make the sacrifice :)

:smooth:

Just booked our seats this morning and our 11.15 flight on friday the 31st october 2003 is all running and is unchanged.

hope this puts some of your minds at rest who are worried
