Hello, just a quick one. Have logged into my booking on VA but it won't let me view my seats, is this because I booked a skycot and my seats are fixed? Am paranoid that I won't get the skycot even tho the lady on the phone assured me it was definite.

Anyone know anything about this or anyone with skycot experience - please advise!

Thanks
Kay

Yes if you have a skycot cannot view the seat map.

Claire ;)

Thanks Claire - have you had a skycot before? Are these the seats with the legroom in front and did you do online checkin?

they are normally bulkhead seats but are not always at front of the plane, there are several throughout the plane

No never had a skycot, just know from reading other posts. I don't think you can do online checkin but may be wrong on that one.

sorry to interupt your thread...but does anyone know the ages of children who we are allowed to book skycots for with VA?

I am not sure of the age limit but the sky cots have a weight limit of 9kg. DD was too long for it at 9mths despite being well under on the weight limit.

no, you cannot do online checkin as you have a "passenger" without a paid seat.
They will have identified you with the cot request, but it all depends on how many are needed for your flight if there are enough places.

You should be OK

Just a word though. You need to strap the baby in, as air turbulance can hit without warning, plus every time the fasten seat belt signs come on, you have to take the baby out the bassinett and use the personal seat belt attachment.

This was a pain on the way home, as you cannot drop off if there is turbulance around.

Thanks Obi. The woman on the phone told me noone else had reserved a skycot on my flight so it was guaranteed to be mine, even if younger babies requested them at a ;later time.

Grannyed: you can request them up to one year of age/22lbs!

Even though a VA person has told you this I doubt that this is true. Sky cots are usually allocated on check in (and no you cannot check in on line with any lap child) and the younger the child the higher the priority for the sky cot. My dd had outgrown skycots at age 8 months (great things though if baby is small enough to fit in one). You do have more legroom as they are bulkhead seats.

Thanks Barnaby make me feel better lol! I know most are allocated on check in and allocated to youngest but I asked this and she quite vehemently stated that with Virgin, once you reserve the skycot it is definitely yours whatever. I understand some kids dont fit in them, but my daughter is quite petite and even if she has her own space to be in for just a little while, it would help us out!
