Virgin Atlantic to charge £25 for a seat request from April

With just the two of us flying I think I will probably leave it until 24 hours before at check in than pay the £100 extra to sit together.

Last time on our flight in PE in Sep 2013 on the flight home DBF got moved anyway as they needed someone sat in the seat by the exit door in the bubble.

If we book with them I will probaby have to pay as I am such a nervous passenger and would need either my daughter or boyfriend next to me. She is also asthmatic so I will not be happy if we get split up BUT as others have said the old system was just a request. Going early december I know the plane will not be as full so may take the risk but ring up and make them aware of my problem. My GP will give me a note anyway along with my diazepam lol

the email I got from VA was the seats were pre-bookable FROM £25 per person each way. Also its only free in PE if you have booked the fully flexible ticket. Luckily there are only 2 of us and we always go out of season and the price is NORMALLY pretty good (wonder how much longer that will last).

Not quite true PE seat requests are free regardless of which booking class, Economy requests are free if you are booked in fully flexible fare bucket (Y) PE seat requests free in all booking classes regardless of whether they are flexible or not
