According to Radio 4 news the pilot gave a false positive breath test because he was following a very strict low carb diet. The blood tests put him in the clear.

Remember pilots are NOT subject to RANDOM alcohol tests. They get tested every single time they enter the pilots area! Only drug tests are random for pilots. So a drunk pilot should never ever fly a Virgin plane, or any plane taking off from a UK airport for that matter.

I'm not sure where you got that info from but I think you are wrong. There is a poll going on a professional pilots forum at the moment as to whether they should be tested before every flight or if it should remain as it is at the moment.
