Virgin Atlantic - Edinburgh to Orlando

Making me reconsider my November trip which flies from Manchester. I'm 15 mins from Edi Airport.

Can't find any flights from Edinburgh on the Virgin website yet. Could be a better option for me living in Aberdeen, but depends upon the pricing. Glasgow was always too expensive.

I'm based in Glasgow so this kinda sucks for me. I've been flying the Virgin GLA-MCO route basically since it started. I booked my 2022 vacation directly through Disney for the first time as I anticipated some changes between now and our departure date. I'm glad I did for the flexibility and peace of mind. Worst case scenario I'll fly out from EDI but I hope Disney will give us the option to rebook with another airline like BA. At the time of the booking, I think Virgin were the only airline taking advanced bookings so I might need to wait till we're within 11 months to compare options. A family member is booked through Virgin and they got an email about the change. I gave Disney a call today to see if they had any insight but Disney told me they had no information as of yet. If I hear any more news I'll try and remember to post an update here in case anyone else is in the same boat.

I beleive the plans are to continue the GLA-MCO flights at a later date. The Edinburgh ones are only twice a week so imagine it'll be two at each.

I'm not sure that will be the case. Glasgow was always twice a week anyway ( perhaps 3 at peak ) and was always seasonal, April to October.

Two from Glasgow and two from Edinburgh would be good, but my understanding is Glasgow Airport has effectively 'lost' the VA Orlando route.

I'm the same, always used the VA GLA-MCO route. When they cancelled my flight for this year (and all the other GLA-MCO flights for 2021) I was concerned they would eventually pull the plug on the route from Scotland. Edinburgh is slightly easier for me than Glasgow but not by much. I'm just glad VA still appear to be continuing a direct service from Scotland as of April 2022. I did fear the worst.

Don’t start booking till the 18th August.

You can definitely book flights further in advance by booking a virgin holiday - I booked for late aug-early sept next year back in March I think it was including filghts.

Our flight has been changed to Edinburgh from Glasgow, takes an hour off my journey with me travelling from NorthEast England. Flight times and dates habe remained the same for my flight atm even with the switch of airport. We got no explanation of why this has happend, i presume its cheaper for Virgin to fly out of Edinburgh.

I believe it was simply a case of Edinburgh airport 'winning' the route from Glasgow Airport. Edinburgh Airport has been severely hit by the pandemic losing a number of routes and airlines. I have heard it was a route they really pulled out all the stops to win.

'winning' the route by charging VA less to fly from Edinburgh. Dont think VA would change a long lasting route from Glasgow if it wasnt financially better for them. This is my opinion anyway. Whatever the reason it has happened. Next August will be my 1st time flying VA to Orlando. What is the WiFi like if anyone has experienced it and is it good value for money?

On sale now , Saturday out and Friday back. Not going to work on our currently booked September 2022 dates unfortunately.

The dates for these flights are identical to what were this years and next years schedule from Glasgow. Out Saturday and Wednesday and back Friday and Tuesday. I don't mind them as it meant an extra few days on the 'standard' 14 day holiday. I can imagine it is a pain for a lot of peoples though that have a fairly rigid 14 day holiday due to work etc.

Just an update from my end... The family member who books directly with Virgin has received their updated flights which are on the same dates but slightly different times. I've still to hear from Disney regarding our options. Just for them to acknowledge it would be nice but I'm assuming they'll need to go through the proper process and wait to be informed by Virgin before they can alert guests.

Booked now with Virgin Holidays for the 7th of September next year for 13 nights. Went for the AS Sports with Premium seats. We stay just up the road from Edinburgh and really like the direct option.
hoping 12 months away will see us okay to go!
