Not sure if this was posted yet or not. Virgin America will start flying non-stop from Los Angeles and SFO to Orlando on 10/6/10. :cool1:

We are heading to WDW on 11/18!:thumbsup2 However I now have a decision to make.

The tickets are $278 one way from SFO to MCO on 11/18 which I think is reasonable for non-stop across the country. HOWEVER, the return flight on 11/27 is $478 each!!:scared1::eek: I know it is Thanksgiving weekend - but that is crazy! :scared1: (Their flight from SFO to Ft. Lauderdale that same day is $268 per person! :confused3 )

Do I wait and see if they lower the prices that weekend? Or book VA going and another airline coming home (Continental has a good price on a return flight, although it leaves at 6:25am! )

What do you airline experts think? I have flown VA to and from Southern CA a few times and love them - but just can't stomach paying $478 for a one way ticket!!:scared1:

Glad to have the knowledge that they are back on track! But yeah, those prices are rather different than their competition.

$580 for MCO-LAX-SEA just one way one person 12/17....ewwwwwww.

But I do love flying VA! They are happy planes. :)

I know Molly! It's outrageous!! I flew VA down to DLR for both the DIS Ladies trips and really enjoyed flying them. I've been holding out buying tickets for WDW in November because I wanted to fly them - I just don't know now. I can do much better with the competition, although they aren't non-stop.
Have you purchased tickets for your December WDW trip?

We bought our tickets out there. SW. More than we wanted to pay, but in a month now (since we bought them) nothing has moved, not up or down.

We actually want Alaska, because they have the nonstop. And I actually thought that VA was out of the game, since they'd blamed a lack of planes for halting their MCO plans...so I really didn't think they'd be available for December. :(

We're still waiting on getting tix for the way back. I keep hoping Alaska will come down for the way to Orlando, because then I'd cancel the SW tix and use those funds to go *home*....and I'd get the Alaska tix for me and E (and ff miles ticket for hubby).

I think I flew VA on the way down to the '09 Divas trip...maybe. They are just such a nice way to start and end a trip! Sigh.

I've spent an hour now trying to make it work where we'd fly from MCO into LAX (would have to leave on the 16th for the 164 rate), have a WDW-comedown stay at DLR, then fly home SNA-SEA on Alaska. :) DH says "it would be great, it would be fun...not sure you can convince me it would be *relaxing*, though". And he's right! :rotfl:

I wouldn't pay that much...we just booked our flight out of SFO to MCO on Delta for $180 rt! As much as I would love to fly VA & non-stop...I like my $180 rt fare!

I would monitor your flights on bing.com/travel (right now their fare indicator says to 'wait' to purchase for your dates) or use farecompare.com.

Good luck!

Thanks guys! I am going to wait it out a little longer. I have been watching bing and fare compare. $189 round trip! Wow! I'm jealous!! :)

I.am.one.happy.gal!

We purchased 4 RT tix SFO to MCO back on 3/24/10 for travel on 10/10/10. For the past 2 months or so, they weren't showing up. Just today, I checked again - and our flights are there! The departure times were moved a little (15 & 45 mins.)

The price is the same: $444 R/T. Fine with me for N/S!

OP - I think I'd book the flight there at that price, but wait just a little longer for the return. As much as I hate connecting flights, that's a lot of $$. The price might go down; if not, you'd be able to book another airline. (although....being a holiday weekend, don't wait too long.)

Virgin American is a great airline. We flew them to California in April (from JFK) and it was a great experience. Probably my best ever on a plane. Great prices too. :thumbsup2
