Just returned from WDW and we did a VIP tour for the first time. Here's a quick review:
It was myself, DW, and DDs 6 and 4. We booked about three months in advance and the rate for mid March was $400/hr, with 6 hr minimum.

We had it set for pickup at 9am from our hotel, the Swan. We got down to the lobby a few minutes beforehand and at 9am on the dot, a Disney CM walked through the door of the hotel. I approached her and asked if she was looking for us, and she indeed was our guide. Her name was Lauren (Medford, NJ). We quickly introduced her to the girls and she led us to a large white panel van. When Lauren opened the door, the van already had two carseats installed with 2 stuffed Minnie toys waiting for the girls. Lauren loaded up our stroller and we were on our way all by 9:05.
She asked us where we wanted to start and of course I said MK and I gave her a list of 13 rides/Meet and Greets I had already chosen. She said that would make her job a lot easier today. We drove straight to MK, past the Contemporary into a side entrance for the park. We stopped in a small lot and another CM was there to scan our magic bands. Lauren took care of the stroller and immediately got behind the bar and it became pretty clear that she would be doing all the pushing that day. I gotta admit, it was nice to get a day off from that :)

We entered MK right next to Buzz Lightyear which was on our list. She walked us through the fast pass line all the way up to the loading point, which was the same routine she led us through the rest of the day. She met us at the ride exit with our stroller where we proceeded to the next ride. The timestamp on our ride pics was 9:21am. After Buzz, we did Tomorrowland Speedway, 7DMT, Ariel, Peter Pan, Cindy/Rapunzel, Anna/Elsa, and Haunted Mansion. At that point it was about 11:15 and we decided to have lunch at Columbia Harbour House. Laruen ate with us (she paid for her lunch) and she took us upstairs to a table in a quite corner of the restaurant. My wife was looking for Ranch dressing and couldn't find it by the condiments and was just going to go without, but Lauren got up and found a CM who came back with 5 huge packets for us. It took us about 40 minutes to eat and then we left to ride BTMR followed by POTC.

After that, we walked back to the exit behind Buzz Lightyear, where the van was waiting for us with the engine on and the AC running. We drove to Epcot where we parked behind the Test Track ride and again, entered through a side entrance. My DD didn't want to ride TT and wanted to stay behind with Lauren, so we went up to the loading area, and Lauren took DD with her and told us she would meet us at unloading. When we were done, DD said she had a nice time telling Lauren about all of her favorite DisJR TV shows like the 7D. Then we went to Spaceship Earth, which was the one time we didn't go through the Fastpass line. instead, we walked in a side entrance through a very narrow doorway and to where the riders were unloading. We got on there before the other riders got on. After that, we rode Soarin which was our final ride of the day. After that, we said goodbye to Lauren and took a couple final pictures and she walked away at 2:55pm on the dot. We could have continued with the tour after 3:00 at a rate of $100/15 minutes. We did not tip, as our confirmation letter we got at booking explicitly said gratuities not accepted.

I would say we went at a leisurely pace the whole day and I was happy to get everything on my list done in 6 hours. Lauren was very good with my children and they became attached to her in a very short time. The VIP guide will get you into any Fast pass entrance in the parks, except ETWB. Once in the FP line, you wait like everyone else, and do not go to the front of the line. However, we didn't wait very long in any of the FP lines. The day we went was probably an 8 crowd level day. Lauren said on a usual day, Disney does about 43 VIP tours, but that day had about 80 scheduled due to Spring Break. She said Christmas time was the busiest.

I think I would do it again. It was on of the best days we had in the parks and we didn't feel tired at all after 6 hours, mostly because we didn't spend much of it standing in a line. Our kids liked having an extra friend to talk to and Lauren even rode a couple of the rides with us.

If anyone has any specific questions, let me know,

Sounds awesome! This is a bucket list item for me, though I think for $2k, my kids would just ask to ride Splash and 7DMT over and over. LOL!

Was there an actual "tour" component? I.E. Did she tell stories, or point out interesting aspects of the parks?

Not really as a formal component, but we did ask many questions along the way and I learned some cool tidbits like that Disney has a total of 30,000 acres in the area. 10,000 is already developed, another 10,000 is dedicated preserve, but there is still another 10,000 remaining to build upon. She talked about the future expansion of TSM and Soarin rides so they can shorten the lines, etc.

We've done the VIP tour twice now, and last week I booked 2 8-hour days for our upcoming June trip, and will say that tour guides vary. Our first one (Jason) was a wealth of knowledge and he shared stories and facts freely. Our second guide (Anna) was also very knowledgeable but only shared when asked specific questions.

Sounds awesome!

When we stay at Portofino at Universal, we have seen people getting picked up for this. One way to combine WDW and Uni. ;)

I guess I just live in a different world... I can't even imagine spending $2,400 for 6 hours at Disney. And they didn't even spring for lunch???? Did you have to buy park tickets separately too?

:crazy2:

The park tickets need to be purchased separately, and if you want to do more than 1 park in a day, you need to have park hopper tickets.

I'm right there with you. As awesome as it sounds, $400/hr with not even lunch included is crazy. Glad you had fun OP! Everyone is different with what they are willing to do and spend. I read the price and just went :scared1:! Lol

Okay, I'm not trying to be totally snarky, but am trying to understand exactly what you're paying for.

You had a private shuttle. Nice enough. You could also hire a taxi if that's a concern.

They kids got stuffed Minnies. Eh.

You got to go straight to the FP line, but not to the front of the line. So you could have done that a minimum of 3 times per day anyway. We actually used 8 FPs on our last trip to MK in one day. Spend a few days and you could easily have that many FPs.

You still had to pay for tickets/hoppers. You still had to pay for lunch.

Sounds like the "guide" didn't know a whole lot more about special Disney things than any regular reader on these boards.

I just don't get the value added for that exorbitant price tag. Is it just to be called a VIP for the day? Is it really just a time constraint? I know Disney prices are crazy for almost everything, but this just seems to be really above and beyond without getting much in return--other than a little time savings. I'd rather just add an extra day or two (for much less than $2400!!!!) and do just as much at just as leisurely a pace.

I must be missing something....

I think it sounds fun, but, I thought it was front of the line access also. Not sure it's worth that expense with out it.
Does seem relaxing way to tour for sure

There are some new tours now that are similar, but a little less and less expensive. I just got an email about them within the last week. They are called the "Ultimate Day" VIP tours. The two that are available now are "for Young Kids" and "for Thrill Seekers" I think. They are going to have others in the future.

They are similar with multiple parks and transportation, but they are priced at a flat rate. $299 per person (DVC discount of 20% available) for 7 hours. I was considering it, it would be about $1000ish for my family after the discount.

It appears that both go to MK, DHS, and AK.

I think these are intended to be a little more "pre-packaged" vs customized.

Thank you for your review. If I had the money, I would consider it. I'm glad your family enjoyed it.

Just for comparison's sake, Universal's version of this includes true "front-of-the-line" everywhere and a nice lunch. Like WDW you still have to pay for tickets separately.

I admit the EPCOT F&W one looks cool :thumbsup2 But the other tours just seem like.......regular days you can have anyway??? Yes, you are going to 3 parks in a day, so I guess maybe if you only have 1 day and the tour includes all (and only) the rides you want to do anyway, it could be worth it to some. I don't think they'd ever be worth it to me; not because of the cost so much, but because I'd feel like I wasn't enjoying the parks and I was rushing through (maybe - obviously I can't say it would definitely feel rushed since I haven't done it ;))

I'm not the OP but I'll throw my $0.02 in anyway. For us, it's not about being labeled "VIP" but for sheer convenience and a lot of fun. It gives me a day where I don't have to plan a single thing including meals as our tour guides have been able to get us a table at any restaurant at any point in time. If my daughter wants to ride TSMM 3x in a row we're able to without having to conquer a 120 stand-by wait each time; for parades we're able to show up at the last minute without worrying about what kind of view we'll have; if I want to ride Mission: Space Orange I'm able to as I have someone to keep an eye on my 6-year-old. The price of such an experience is by no means cheap but I work hard, save harder, and every one in a while feel a splurge is in order.
