VIP Tour - January 2022

They want you in the VIP section at least 15 minutes before the fireworks start because they close off routes in the hub closer to the start time and make things go one way. We stopped at 7:45 because we hit the 7 hours. Our original start and end time was 12:30-7:30, but when I emailed about the fireworks being a must do, they said I could push the tour back or extend it. We pushed it back to give us a bigger cushion for our brunch.

Here’s where the VIP Tour viewing section is:

Thank you so much this is great info. How was it getting out of the park after?

Thank you this is great info! We've had so many cancelled trips I'm so excited to get back!

We hung back until the crowds dispersed a bit. I stayed in the park while my friends family headed back to the hotel. They took the ferry to TTC. I think they were back to AKL by about 9:15?

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread! I’ve been scouring the web to see if VIP is worth it, especially with the new genie+/LL/ILL system…We have 3 littles (6 and under). In general, it seems like, Yes??

A friend with close connections to the mouse said, “the plaid people have been stripped of a lot of their power compared to when they walk around with a celebrity. He says they are so much more common now and that it’s probably just like the LL/genie+ concept but someone holding your hand through it.”

I haven’t been to WDW since 2006 and sooo much has changed…I wonder if having a VIP guide will also save me at least a little planning/research time (as I’m someone who plans and researches things to the nth degree…like 30+ hours for my first baby’s stroller 🤪).

And has anyone worked in character meet n greets during a tour (do you get shorter lines for those, too), or should those be done on a different day?

I can try and remember to give a more updated response after my tour on Sunday, but worth is really dependent on the individual. These are incredibly expensive (for me!).

They're more than G+, but it's not like they can cut you to the actual front of most lines. You have to use the Lightning Lane typically. But, you don't need return times and you can do re-rides. If you're hopping they will also drive you between the parks and generally you use an alternate entrance.

Meet and Greets with Lightning Lanes are worth doing, because you'll use that in my experience.

You can definitely do a lot more in one day with one than without, and it will be more relaxing in my experience. Depends on your situation if that's worth thousands of dollars.

Our tour was Sunday, 12/26. Although we had a rented car, we decided to take the bus to Hollywood Studios to end at the Magic Kingdom. This approach would allow us to avoid losing time being picked up or dropped off since we stayed at the Grand Floridian.

Using @karenc15 itinerary as a template, we met at Hollywood studios, Baseline Tap House, at 1 PM. You have to find your Guide, as not all wear the plaid vest but still a distinctive uniform. She was fantastic from the start. Unfortunately, the list of priority rides we spent quite some time organizing was not forwarded to her, but a quick verbal discussion gave her the lowdown. We made adjustments as she recommended along the way but ultimately, the priorities centered around the proximity of the headliner rides to each other.

Hollywood Studios
Rise of The Resistance (Our Guide [OG] took Selfie of all of us), Slinky Dog Dash ([OG] pointed out Hidden Mickeys), Toy Story Mania (on this ride, we bypassed the Lightning Lane through a separate switchback, She met us at the exit with bottled water), Slinky Again, Micky and Minnie Runaway Railway, Tower of Terror (on this ride, we bypassed the Lightning Lane through a separate hallway), Rock and Rollercoaster
The backstage exit (no pictures allowed) is at the entrance to Lightning Mcqueen, and other cast members had our SUV waiting and running.

EPCOT
[OG] parked backstage next to the Soarin show building, entered the park near the world case pavilion, a short 10-minute walk to Remy’s Ratatouille ([OG] pointed out a hidden Mickey getting off the vehicle on the wall) walked back towards the car. We entered the Soarin building at the doors near the bathrooms, spent 30 minutes eating sandwiches from Sunshine seasons. Even with a big breakfast, we were hungry. I am glad we sacrificed the time to fuel up. [OG] isn’t allowed to take her mask off indoors, so she went backstage to eat. We exchanged phone numbers, and we texted her when we were done eating.

Animal Kingdom
[OG] parked backstage in a designated VIP parking spot and entered the park near the Pandora bathrooms, Navi River ([OG] informed us that the story starts with this ride so we could do Flight of Passage second. We exited the park.

Magic Kingdom
[OG] parked backstage behind Tomorrowland, Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin (on this ride, we bypassed the Lightning Lane through a separate hallway), Seven Dwarves (twice), and finally Peter Pan

Fireworks viewing Area
We walked through Liberty Square around the Hub filled with a sea of humanity. As mentioned, the viewing area is in front of Casey’s Corner. We arrived about 7:55, and there was still plenty of room. My family even laid down on the turf for a few minutes. [OG] and other guides had large transparent bags, passing out ice cream and water for their groups. She surprised us with a small gift (see attachment) for groups that take the tour.

Again, [Og] was fantastic. Great personality, accomodating, sharing Disney information, and we even got to know her at a personal level. As mentioned, plan ahead with cash in an envelope. For a 7 hour tour for a group of 4, we tipped $260. She said that it wasn’t necessary because she really loves her job, again showing how awesome she is. We insisted, and it was the time to say goodbye, and there were hugs and tears. One final example is that she returned about 10 minutes later to give my youngest DS the sunglasses he had inadvertently left in the SUV; wow! We will never forget this experience.

P.S. Somehow, I and my eldest DS mustered the energy to head back to Epcot (First ferry out to TTC, Monorail to EPCOT) to watch Harmonious before calling it a day. We somehow scored a front and center spot to put the icing on the cake.

Thank you for the detailed review
What was you guides name?

@Lizbelem I found the design by a furloughed Cast Member in the Ears for Each Other Facebook group. She has an Etsy store (not sure if I'm allowed to post the link). If you do a search on Etsy for Core Memory long sleeve it will come up.

Based on our experience of "do it yourself" with LL and Genie+ vs the VIP Tour - the VIP Tour is much more a certainty you will get through the rides, etc. that you want, and without starting at 6 am and stressing over your phone. Also, if anything goes wrong, key rides are down for a while, etc., it is the only way to get through your list. With going in back doors between parks, it certainly makes the park to park travel much more efficient.

If you are going off-peak time, or have lots of days for your trip, I think it is more of a luxury, and maybe not even so much fun because it is such an exhausting day...

I loved our VIP tour day since it took all the pressure off me... DH took the view, why pay, because when I did all the work, we got through a similar list (of course, our VIP Tour day was 11 am - 730 pm), our do-it-yourself day was in the parks 7 am - 10 pm to get through a similar list.

This is very helpful. Thank you.

The VIP area was the green section in front Casey's Corner. Despite it being the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, there was plenty of room. It gave us a pretty unobstructed view of the castle. I'm attaching a picture I took from that viewing area. I don't know where the VIP area for Harmonious was, but we got to the Epcot lagoon about 10 minutes before the show started and was able to get a decent viewing spot next to some of the standing tables. Have to say, Harmonious and Enchantment were two of my favorite moments during our 4 days.
Are they using the same vip viewing area as the dessert parties pre and post? Do you guys have different sections on the grass?

No, the dessert parties use the garden in front of The Plaza Restaurant. VIP viewing is in the garden in front of Casey's.
