I'm thinking about doing this for DCA (we did VIP tour for Disneyland park only a couple years ago).
Before contacting them, is there any rides that are not covered by the VIP tour in DCA? I remember that for Disneyland, there were a bunch of rides (mainly in Fantasyland) that were not covered.

Also, do you think a VIP tour makes sense for DCA?

My personal opinion, no. Most the rides the VIP tour will get you on you can get a fastpass for. We have easily been able to do every ride in DCA once or twice in a day just using maxpass, especially since you will be going in the fastpass line for most of them anyway.

I agree, you can easily get FastPass or MaxPass for every ride in DCA in one day and have plenty of time left to ride the ones that don't have FastPass.

There are rides VIP tour guides won't take you on?
Yes. If there is a ride with a fastpass, then you go in the fastpass line. Some rides they take you in the exit, some rides they send you in a shortened line, and some rides they have no expedited access to.

Interesting. Although I'm certain that I've seen VIP groups go thru the exit at both Soarin' and Midway Mania. And every ride has an exit, so I'm curious which rides wouldn't have any expedited access.

I think it's mostly the Fantasyland rides, some of them have turn-styles at the exit which obviously you can't go through the wrong way. Others of them have such a small exit path there's really no place for a group to get in and wait while people are constantly trying to leave. Some of those also don't have a clear path from the exit to where you get on without getting too close to the moving vehicles.
I've never done a VIP tour and I'm sure there are other rides that don't have access to the loading through the exit, but those are the ones I could think off the top of my head.

In DCA, the swings and Wheel of Death are the only rides I can think of that aren't included.

That's too bad, Death Wheel would definitely be on my (theoretical) DCA VIP Tour list.
They can do things to help though. Once when the kids wanted to ride the Wheel, our guide put us on Midway Mania, then got in the Wheel line, and when we came off, he was almost to the front. They had us meet him thru the exit.

Depends on the level of "VIP" on the tour. For the average Joe just on a VIP tour if there is a fastpass line you just get instant access to the FP line for your group. If you are a true VIP or celebrity they will still bring them in through the exits even on FP attractions but just regular paid VIP tour do not have that access.

I don't have the full list...but when I got to do a VIP tour a while back it was just instant access to all of the FP attractions through the FP line and "expedited" access to 13 or 14 other attractions across both parks. It is not instant access to everything.

We moved so quick though everything I could not imagine limiting it to just one park. OK to focus on one park, but you would have time to hit everything in DCA and still get some time in DL.

Out of curiosity, how much is the VIP tour?

(Hmmm, just realized that if I'm asking, I probably can't afford it!)

Off season rates currently are $425/hour with a 7 hour minimum (used to be 6 hours) for group of up to 10 people...so $2,975.00

I believe peak season rates are closer to $500/hour

...and you still need park tickets!

thanks for your input everyone. I have two days for disneyland, and I'm pretty sure we can hit everything there. I'm going with a group of 7 people total, so I was thinking that DCA with just one day may be worthwhile. we don't have hoppers. I was thinking that there were quite a few rides I'd want to ride multiple times at DCA (Guardians, Incredicoaster, etc.)

In my opinion you would be much better off buying the hoppers and max pass than spending the money on a VIP tour for DCA. (And I will qualify that by saying unless you are going when Star Wars opens- and I think all bets are off for anything regarding what the crowd levels will be when that happens-- VIP could be handy for anyone anywhere in the parks maybe. Just FYI- We have friends that have been to every Disney park and they have done the VIP tours in some of them and they say by far the park where it is needed most is Shanghai.)

We have max pass, just no hopper.
We are going April 30 to may 2, so before star wars land.

Hi,
I just contacted VIP tour and it looks like Disneyland is definitely the better value... here are the rides... surprisingly, Peter Pan Flight, Dumbo, and Alice and most of the other dark rides are on the list! The fantasyland rides that are missing is Mr Toad and Casey Jr. Also, it still lists Pixar Play Parade, so it is out of date I think. The ones with asterisks just mean it's a Fastpass ride, I think.

Disneyland Park

Disney California Adventure Park

There is also:

Even more so than Tokyo? Would love to visit DisneySea but heard the waits there are ridiculous.

According to them yes. They said Shanghai was insanely crowded-but it has been over a year since they were there, so it is possible that as the park has been around a little longer it has gotten better, or maybe they hit it at a bad time. You can also buy a fast pass package at Shanghai called premier access. They did the VIP (called Premier Tour) and felt it was worth it for them.
