MK closed 8:00 PM Mon nite. We were on one of the first buses back to Y&B. We noticed a lot of motorcycle police on the way out of MK, several cars pulled over with cops around them on northbound World Dr. On the bus radio we heard them say World Dr north was closed for the VIP motorcade, then saw a mass of cycle police coming down a ramp. Bush was/is in Florida so obviously we're all jumping to conclusions that it must have been him - but of course we have no idea. Also, at 11:00 pm, MK started again with fireworks... and it wasn't a MNSSHP nite.

Anyone have any idea who the VIP was ? Did they get a special showing of wishes ?

VIP was John Kerry. He spent the night at one of the Disney resorts. Don't know why Wishes went late. To my knowledge, they didn't do it for him.

heh... safe bet he didn't stay at the all-stars... :)

Rumor has it he was trying to get Disney to serve Heinz Ketchup. They firmly believe Disney needs more variety..........57 more!!!

thats all they serve I think... DH refused to have any while we are down there. Regardless of his feelings about Kerry (which are very negative), he did it because Teresa is a complete wench... I can't believe her behavior myself!

Teresa? A witch? I totally disagree.

Is this going to be the new debate board?

I didn't realize Disney only served Hienz, I guess that helps support Hienz massive outsourcing of jobs to other countries....

Teresa's ongoing trend of inappropriate and embarrassing behavior demonstrating her lack of qualifications shouldn't be a topic for the rumors board. I think he probably wanted to see what true VIP treatment at WDW is like before he becomes the loosing presidential candidate of 2004. I believe his secret service detail will be greatly reduced after election day.

However, the manner in which they are able to wisk a VIP of that caliber into and out of WDW would certainly be of interest. I wonder what capablities the Grand Floridian has and whether there were rides in the parks kept open after hours for a VIP like that to enjoy.

I wasn't trying to debate... just having a bad day and making a snide comment about hinez ketchup and what else that intails.

And, after working with Disney as a food supplier, I do know that they go with the lowest price (and have only ever seen Heinz ketchup as long as I have been going to Disneyland and Disney World).

Desperado
If you don't think it is appropriate to discuss on the board - which I agree - then why did you continue with the inappropriate post?????

Jeanmr1 -
I believe Desperado was trying to bring the topic back to a Rumor/News discussion. That sometimes means finishing a thought that is a little bit off tangent.

Also, we're a bit loose in our definition of what qualifies as 'on topic,' since we often discuss what makes Disney a good (or bad) corporation and where they are in the hierarchy of today's business world. I also try not to randomly delete posts, as long there's some real discussion going on and no bashing of other posters (other posters' ideas may be bashed but not the individual).

I hope that helps you understand why this thread hasn't been closed/deleted/moderated in some other way.

I'm old enough to remember when Hunt's Catsup was the official ketchup of Disneyland. In fact, I know that was still the case as recently as 11 years ago.

By the way, for the truth about the Heinz and the "massive outsourcing of jobs," see http://www.snopes.com/politics/kerry/heinz.asp -- I'm not trying to enter into a political debate here, but I dislike seeing misinformation on this board.)

hmmm--qualifications???!!!--

you know there is this great moments with Mr somebody or other attraction that Walt made about a certain president whose wife was apparently not just unpleasant but completely insane...I can't believe the country could have possibly elected a president with a wife without the approprate qualifications....how did we ever survive that ?!! How could walt glorify a president with a wife with such a lack of qualifications...???

Go Kerry---a candidate with supporters who know what's important in a candidate...!

I heard Kerry took 5 days to pick the hotel to stay at. He changed his mind every few hours and just could not stick with one choice! He finally had to settle, never did really pick one.;)

Go W!

Sheeeesh... guess we better shut this thread down before somebody gets their little feelings hurt.

Let me amend what I said earlier....

Go Mickey!

I heard Kerry left as soon as he discovered they no longer serve Mickey Head butter...

I'm not sure I've ever seen anything regarding Walt's political party. We all know that he testified in front of HUAC and all that, but I don't believe his party affiliation ever made the news. The parks themselves have attractions that celebrate all the presidents, with Lincoln featured, so that doesnt' really lead to any conclusions about Walt's leanings one way or the other.

His status as an icon of wholesome family entertainment would seem to indicate he'd favor the Republicans, but his place in Hollywood might put him more firmly in the Democratic camp. I think he'd probably vote Bush. Him hanging out with W and Laura seems a much more logical picture than him chatting with Kerry and his wife.

....."..him chatting with Kerry and his wife."
.
But I can't imagine anyone wanting to talk to Kerry's wife. Not even Kerry.
