Vinylmation Toys

That's what I was thinking eggs and ham. :confused3

I decided I need all of them. I need them! :rotfl:

Whenever I am at DLR next (have no clue when that will be), I am going to have to take a second look at the little VinylNation thingies. I know I thought the big ones looked creepy, but I might be able to get into the little guys......assuming I can find any. The more I read this thread and hear about the ideas behind the designs, it sounds like a cool concept.

Sherry, to understand these, go to a Japanese animae shop, or to Kid Robot. They started this trend of artist-designed semi-twisted, ironic figures that has inspired this VinylNation series. They also had the concept of the blind box buy, where the element of gambling was involved in the purchase.

I have a figure that is just about the same size as the VinylNation figure, it's like a standing rabbit body painted as if it were a "hello my name is" sticker. It is so close to the VinylNation figure.

If you see these originals, you'll get a much better sense of what the VinylNations are all about. They are nothing like what Disney usually does. And I'm thrilled they took the bold move.

Okay, thanks!:goodvibes Yes, when I saw them in Off the Page, I thought they looked vastly different from what Disney normally does, but definitely geared towards a very specific and large audience. And the craze seems to be spreading like wildfire. We saw them in one other store in DLR too, and I can't recall which one. It was not Vault 28, but somewhere else.....it'll come to me eventually.

They were allover WDW last week. We bought 2 sets (in order to get one complete set). They are just adorable! I fell in love with them when I saw them in a hotel window.

I just saw their news page update and man the back of that Ariel looks real cool. i thought it looked a bit plane before, but that back is the coolest thing yet!

The little one is fun too. When are those SHAG HM ones going on sale?

When I was in the park last week they (all the stores) were all out of the 3" ones, I was sooo bummed!

creep my out, cheap looking, and a waste of time, money, CMs, and space. Finally Disney has invented ugly toys.

They aren't really "toys."

And for the record, I think Disney has already have many, many ugly toys in existance.

Okay, I really want to get some of these. But I hate the whole not knowing which one you would get. (I am not big on surprises.) I don't have the funds to try to collect all of them and only want the ones that have significance to me. Any way, other than Ebay, to just get which ones you want? Do the CMs still do trading?

DH and I bought a few of these at DisneyWorld in January, it was fun opening them and seeing which one was inside but I hated getting duplicates! Plus once we got home I decided they were kind of tacky looking so I sold most of mine on ebay. Now the vinylmation pins I do like! :goodvibes

I was there last weekend and saw none of the 3 inch ones!!! Not one!! We saw a lot of the big ones and some keychains (I almost got one, it was purple w/flowers on it) but none of the little ones.....

if anyone is at the parks this week, and sees the new limited Mummy that came out today, I'd REALLY REALLY love one. I'd be happy to pay a little extra for it too. I wish they weren't so darn limited, so that we could actually get them, LOL

From what I understand, all the park stores sold out of the Mummy today. I ordered a case of the 3" and one of each of the 9". The CM I talked to said I bought the last Mummy from their store. VinylNation.net also has a Vinyl tracker, and they're showing the Mummy being sold out everywhere.

However, the good news is Art of Disney at DTD is doing an Artist Party on Friday from 5-7, and I'm sure they'll roll out more for that event. You might try calling AOD DTD Friday morning (they open at 9) - the number is (407) 828-3929. If you get the voicemail, leave a message - they will defintely call you back. Otherwise, best of luck on eBay!
