Vinylmation Toys

I dont really get it either...I feel almost lost lol But they look neat I guess.

Wazowskilover- Are you wanting to buy the blanks? Offline or online?

I am not sure where in California you are but I know that Munkey King in Hollywood has blanks and so do some other shops. They start at about $7 for a 3.5" and go up to almost $200 for some of the designs.

I'm not looking to buy them, although I do find them very interesting to do. Its quite possible I might get into it later because I do LOVE to paint. Thanks for the info!

Well I am from your generation lol so that isn't it. I guess I just think they almost look creepy to me.

Haha ! Hrm. I don't know then. Maybe it has to do with area then because I'm not too far away from San Francisco and the style of toys as art is very popular over there; and more so as urban cultural art (almost like graffiti).

I LOVE Vinylmations. I think they are SO cool. My brother told me about them before our January trip & I was excited getting some :) I have most of the pins except for the Monorail, Yeti, & upside down Mickey.

I LOVE the figurines too ! I definitely want to get them off of ebay :)

Of course me, my brother (TheAXIOM), & cousin (wazowskiLOVER) would love them because that's our style. We love art, especially these kinds !

Some may hate them but our family lovesss them. :cool1:
WOO GO FAM !:grouphug:

My teen boys were looking for the small ones when we went earlier this month. Could not find the small ones anywhere. The big ones don't look as cute, besides costing way too much.

They remind me of the Peanuts statues we had up all over town for several years. They were large, outdoor statues. Like Charlie Brown. They were all the same but different artists painted them differently.

Anyway, I didn't even think about them being sold out, I just thought it was odd we couldn't find the small ones.

The boys ended up getting Jack Skellington bobble heads anyway, so they were happy. :)

Budgie, did you look in Off the Page? That was where I saw a whole bunch of the small ones (large ones too, but lots of small ones). However, that was in December and I wonder if they are all gone now. We saw them in another store as well and I cannot remember which one it was.

Isn't there a Peanuts museum up north? I LOVE Peanuts and Charles Schulz. That is a piece of my childhood right there, along with Mickey and Walt!!

This reminds me of that 75 Years of Mickey thing they did where they had various artists/celebrities design their own Mickey statue and put them on display.

From a merchandise standpoint, it reminds me of those darn collector packs with 3 little figurines per pack for $5. Those things are EVIL!!! :scared: I got sucked into that for a while, but at 5 bucks a pop it started getting a little ridiculous, so I quit. But they keep coming out with new designs and it's getting harder to resist the temptation. :upsidedow

I loved the idea of that 75 Years of Mickey thing. I didn't see it myself, but didn't they have all the Mickeys spread around the parks, or were they all just in one park? Catalina Island here in California did a similar thing back in 2002. Their unofficial island mascot is the buffalo, and so for one season, they had something like 75 or 100 or however many buffalo (can't recall exactly how many there were), decorated in all sorts of styles, strewn about the city of Avalon and other hard to spot locations. That was one of my favorite trips to Catalina - walking around, trying to find as many of the buffalo as I could - so I KNOW I would have been all over that Mickey thing!!!

I saw those collectors packs (Series 1-6 at the time I saw them; by now, I am sure they have added 20 more series!) you are talking about. I ALMOST got roped into that but resisted at the last minute because I could see how dangerous it was going to become. You could buy a yellow pack and HOPE that it contained the exact 3 pieces of the Yellow series that you were missing, but it would turn out that only one piece was what you needed and the other two were duplicates. So you would have to keep buying and buying those yellow packs until you got the other pieces you needed in that series, and then you had to move on to the green pack series, the red packs, the blue, etc., etc. It had the potential to cost a LOT of money because they were adding in all sorts of special edition series too. It was endless. So I avoided it totally, thank goodness. But those little tiny figures were/are adorable and VERY tempting because one pack for $5.00 doesn't seem bad.....and then the Disney Snowball Effect takes hold and it's downhill from there!:rotfl2:

I don't know how they did it at WDW because I wasn't there at the time...but if I remember correctly, when they came to DL they had them spread around various places in DCA. It was pretty cool!

EXACTLY!! EVIL, I tell you! :rotfl: You're actually allowed to trade your figures with the CM working at the counter, but that only goes so far...most of the time, the people who have traded in aren't trying to collect all of them, and therefore aren't going to give up any "good" figures that might be in their pack. I traded in a few, but the selection always seemed to be the same. Lots of Fliks, Hoppers, and Kali River Rapids rafts. You know, stuff most people don't want. Also, the CMs could be inconsistent with the way you were allowed to trade. Some of them said you're only allowed to trade ONE figure at a time, others didn't care. I often wonder what it's like now since there are so many MORE packs than there were when I was involved, but I don't want to get sucked in again!

That is SO cool ! :)
I would've loved to seen that in person.

Yes, we did look in Off the Page. Just big ones.

Yes, there is the Charles Schultz musuem here. We had never been and finally went last summer. DH is a big Peanuts fan too.

We were in WDW in 04 for the mickeys...and they were neat. Most of them were cute and some were...interesting lol :)

On Saturday, my friend gave me one of the small vinylmation figurines. It ended up being the Yeti. I thought they were pretty cute so I decided to buy one on our last day in the parks (Sunday.) And wouldn't you know it....I got another Yeti. Boo. Had I gotten a different one, I probably would have bought a third. But sorry Disney, you lost that sale.

Maybe I can sell the second Yeti on ebay some day. I opened the box, but not the bag.

I was sooooooo close to getting my big HM vinylmation! I was going to get one at the end of the day, so I wouldn't have to carry it, and suprisingly Disneyana was closed. So I headed in the Emporium and was going to get a small vinylmation but there was only 1 box left! I decided not to get it bc the box was bent up and I wanted a pretty one. I told my DM about it and she said if I wanted the big HM one. :scared1: I was so excited! I didn't know if she forgot that it was the most expensive ones of the bunch or if she was just in a shopping mood, but I didn't argue. BUT they didn't have any HM ones in the Emporium and the CMs said that Disneyana shouldn't be closed, but it was and when we checked again, no one was in there. So that's my story of how I almost got my HM vinylmation toy.

Aww you got the YETI!? LUCKY!!

I'm itching to get one of those!

I saw the big blank ones at a store in Animal Kingdom last week. I couldn't figure out what you were supposed to use to decorate them, and the people working in the store there didn't either. I'm not sure if I like them or not, but all I've seen are the big ones, the small ones might be pretty cute.
