Okay...is there some way to tell on the box which Vinylmation you are going to get? Like a number or something! I don't want to collect them, I just want a couple good ones that I like and I don't want to waste my money buying them and not even get the ones I want. I've looked on ebay and those suckers are like $30 sometimes and that's not what I want to spend lol

Nope, no way to tell before you buy. I wish they'd offer that option too. I think they'd sell more of them!

daaaang, I thought they had numbers on them or something. I wish I could just open it haha

My kids buy them and never get the ones they want. Hey, you should tell me which ones you want. Maybe I have them. lol

I wish you could tell somehow too but sadly that's now how it works. :sad2:

The best way is exactly what you are doing. Reach out to other vinylmation people and trade across the board without exchanging money.

My niece collects them and has so many it is downright silly. But, she loves them and it is fun.

Oh my!! I didn't realize you couldn't see which one you were buying!! :confused3

I first saw them at Downtown Disney, and just assumed you picked which one you wanted to buy. So, is the box glued or taped shut or something so you cannot open it??

We are addicted to vinylmations at our house. I wish you could tell which one you were getting as well before buying. When we were at Disney last year, we bought 5 throughout the trip. We ended up getting 3 of the same one and it wasn't even a cute one. My kids were sad.

For Christmas, I found ebay was the way to go. I got some good deals, and I liked that I knew that I was getting the ones my kids wanted. They were so excited Christmas morning.

However, I am sure we will be buying them and hoping for the best on our next trip.

We love them here too. We have a few duplicates but not many.

I was told yesterday by a CM at Mousegears that they are working on a way for Cast Members to be able to trade them. I don't know if it was just rumor or not but she did say that trading was coming soon.

The box can be opened (or at least mine could...I had one of the tin Christmas boxes), but the figure itself is sealed inside an opaque bag inside it. I was disappointed I couldn't pick, too. I'd love to have the leprechaun one and the snowman one.

The boxes are glued, except for the holiday boxes can be opened and you see the card. My kids said they realized when Mom bought the Vinylmations they got the ones they wanted, when they paid no such luck. They think my money is magic :)

Okay i'll just post it this way then lol. I'll post which ones I'm looking for and then post a link of the photos

I would try ebay too. I looked last night, and was able to get 3 of the ones I wanted. You might have to pay a wee bit more for them. Just a thought!

The boxes are glued shut, there is a card inside the box that tells you what the figure in the box is but you are not supposed to open them unless you buy them. I never really liked them, until last trip when they had the Cutesters out. I love those!!! We bought 6, I got the purple one and the one with the fairies, the girls got an owl, 2 bees and the one with the tree on it. I'm considering buying a box of them from Disney Shopping so we can get the whole set of Cutesters but I don't know what to do with the rest, I guess I could eBay them but I don't know....LOL

Oh my goodness, yes, you could resell them! Maybe not for much right now, but I would get the box, pick out your favs and hold onto the rest. They are like baseball cards. The best I can figure anyway. Eventually they will not make those particular Cutesters ones someday, and they will be worth more. You can resell them on ebay now too if you wanted. Some one will be looking out for one you might have! ;)

So glad I came across this thread. I saw the vinylmations during our trip to WDW last month and had no idea what they were. Is this something new?

Here is a picture that I took, which was at Pop Century:

I think they are going for the baseball car model from years past. It used to be you bought a pack of cards not knowing what was inside and then traded with friends or dealers to complete sets or get what you wanted.

As a business model it is smart because you get the people buying more then they would because they are going for the one they want. There is also the veritable ratio positive reinforcement model that makes gambling so addictive.

That's just it, do I want to invest now for something that might gain in value? DBF has baseball cards that are worth nothing so it's hard to say. I just know I want a full set.

As for the person selling the secret, not sure I believe that but I'm tempted to buy it just to see what happens.....but since I won't be going to the parks for a while I think I might just buy them by the case and perhaps eBay the rest.....

Well, I'm not meaning to rain on anyone parade, but one of the "secrets" is that if you get a newly opened case, the box in the front right is supposed to be a chaser.

But then again, SO many people know this and it has been proved to be wrong. I am curious to see what info that ebayer is selling but I won't pay for it!
