does anybody have an album collection? I went in to a used record shop for a gift for my niece. I came out with three albums for me, and I didn't have alot of time to shop. I could easily replace all my high school records.

I have kept all my vinyl. I have around 200 albums. My son has recently discovered my albums and he has played them on our old, antique turntable. He is now buying the same music on CD and downloading onto his IPod. I never thought my children would enjoy the music I love.

I'm impressed by anybody who kept their high school collection in good enough shape to still play.
Nobody else??

My husband is a collector. I think we have about 2000 at this point. He refurbishes old tube stuff to run it, and spends way too much on turntables! He has also made more than a couple fo funky speakers that he insists need to be so far from the wall, and each other...

too bad you are in New Jersey! He loves finding a new store!

I saw a phonograph for sale by Crosley. It is a turntable, cassette player, AM/FM radio and a CD burner! You can play the records and urn them to a CD. It is $399. I guess I'll have to start saving.

My wife has a ton of records (also a few 8-tracks! :scared1: ). I ended up going to a DJ shop for a direct drive turn-table.

My mother wouldn't let me buy records when I was a child. She wanted me to find some interests other than music. Didn't work. I do have 2 Duran Duran albums framed and hanging on my wall; I want to find Rio and Seven and the Ragged Tiger to hang with them.

Nothing beats the scratching sound of vinyl!

I still have my old records from the 80's. Unfortunately, most of them have scratches on them. I have a few that don't.

Ok, you know I have to ask which albums they are! Mine are still over at my parents in the attic (haven't warped yet, thankfully).

Hey, I remember the old 8-tracks and my parents still have them, too :teeth:

I have Arena and the very very very first album with "To The Shore" on it, the 1981 version (although I believe it may have been a second pressing, as it's on the Harvest label but the sleeve has photos and lyrics - I think the original first pressing was a plain white sleeve).

We still have a good sized collection of stuff that I have converted to CD which means we never actually play the vinyl copies.

I currently have about 300 vinyl LPs (and about 50-60 45s). I'm most proud of all the old Prince 12" maxi-singles that I have, and also an old Johnny Cash gospel album, complete with a 3-D cover (this I inherited from my parents). I do agree that nothing beats both the sound quality and cover art of vinyl. :thumbsup2

I have the first album with TTS on it as well. Had to special order it back in '85, but I got it :goodvibes

My DH and I both have our collections for our younger days. Our DS now plays them. It is great!

I still have all my albums from HS and I graduated in 1972!

It's a lovely song, isn't it? I was so happy when they put it back on the remastered CD!

My mother wouldn't buy the record for me. I remember having to save my allowance, a dollar a week, to finally buy it. It took FOREVER.

DH has his record colection - lost of Punk Rock records. Probably about 30 or 40 of them. His parents have a ton of records, too.
I have no records. I didn't get an allowance as a kid and I was told I could either (1) borrow the records from friends, or (2) tape the songs I liked off of the radio.

We still have most of our vinyl collection as well. We keep them in theses great "Odyssey" record cases. Don't play them much but I would never get rid of them. I don't think we broke down and got a CD player until the mid to late 80's anyway.
