Villians Sinister Soirée

Does it such the way they did the change? Yes. Is it going to run the trip?
Huh? I don't even understand those sentences.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Then why show up here and tell people that they should not give theirs and instead should be thankful that they have enough money to go to WDW?

I am going to un-sub from this thread and look elsewhere.
:wave2: Have fun storming the castle.

I didn't say it wasn't worth it to anyone else. I'm just not understanding why it is.

Perhaps better to say you don't understand than to say it's just stupid. I've had great dialogue with people of all different viewpoints on all sorts of topics -- this obviously isn't how to do it.

I'm so frustrated!

I have the 9:55 seating booked on October 9, which I booked the morning of the announcement. I have been trying to book the 11:45 seating instead for days now, ever since they announced 2 soirees for almost every night. I keep getting told over and over again that it's unavailable, even pretty much the moment it was announced (with social media, I found out about it quickly!). I keep hearing to keep trying, but it's getting frustrating. The CM's either don't know what the soiree is, or act surprised/don't seem to believe that there is a later seating. I have not talked to one CM who was knowledgeable about this yet so when they look and tell me it's unavailable, I have trouble believing it! I have tried the special events line and the dining line. Just tried dining line, and got a CM who said "They have Cinderella's Royal Table open that late???" :sad2: Am now on hold with a 30 minute wait on the events line. Geez!

Mostly I'm just venting, but also wondering if anyone knows if Oct 9 is booked??

I went through the same thing with 4 calls to guest services. Twice, I was told all of the SS parties were sold out. The third time and this is when I actually booked, I was told there were only 3 nights when there were 2 parties per night (the first 3 nights of the party in Sept). The CM said that on the other nights, only one party is offered and that there was no late SS party.

Umm...Patrick...mejo was NOT bashing anything. She/he is on YOUR side. She/he was pointing out that when they meet the characters they are not clooege students to him/her, but rather the actual villains. Settle down.

Yea my bad sorry was getting told by a real classy person that I'm burning my $..

At $99 plus $60 for very little investment on their part I tend to agree:thumbsup2

I bought tickets the day the villain soirée info posted. I am seriously excited. Never question my decision. I like special events. It adds a little more magic to our trip. I know to some it is silly, but the kid in me likes to meet the characters that I grew up reading about.

Sorry my bad but this threads time is up I think

Actually, the long discussion on this thread was going quite nicely with most everyone keeping a civil tone until you stepped in. I certainly hope the mods see that and don't close down a good discussion of with varying opinions based on a couple of posters that don't want to behave.

So what? I know people who tell me to my face that I'm burning money vacationing at WDW at all (and buying into DVC). I know what's worth what to ME, and I don't care what other people think of what i spend my money on. It's just their opinion, not an attack.

Just roll on! :thumbsup2

I don't recall telling you how to spend your money. Just asked if you were interested in throwing some my way:confused3[/QUOTE

Grow up what are you 10...

Pat no need to be combative, I have my opinion you have yours. I just stated I don't understand the need to pay extra for what you are already somewhat paying for. You saw villains, fireworks and the parade for your admission before this event came to fruition. So nothing other than 4 desserts is different from previous parties. Yet disney slaps a $99 price tag on it and it is the best thing since sliced bread. So you feel it is worth it great I hope you have a wonderful time and it is everything you hoped it would be.

How crowded were the parties/parade viewing etc? Wondering if there will be any appreciable shift of crowd size around the park due to the party. We aren't attending any f the soirees.

It's not silly to me at all.

I think the vast majority of people expressing their dislike of this is based on what they took away from the regular party, not that they had the special event.
We've done several special events, but this is the first time in my memory that the event cost those not buying to lose something they already had been told they'd get.

I didn't say it wasn't worth it to anyone else. I'm just not understanding why it is.

Here's why it's worth it to me…

1. I'll be attending the Soiree on a more crowded night, and so, rather than having to stake out my spot on a crowded sidewalk an hour (or more) before the parade - I'll have a reserved spot that isn't so crowded. I HATE feeling like I'm trapped in a crowd - so there's some value there for me.

2. The fireworks? Meh. I'll probably move to a better spot (where I normally go) so I can watch them without the castle obstructing my view. So, no, there's no value there for me.

3. I have a reservation for the dessert party for the later seating…so, while 99% of the party guests are making their way to the exits at 11:45 pm, I'll be making my way to the castle for a Halloween party. For me, there's value in being in the castle at midnight - for Halloween….Have never done that before, so I'm looking forward to the experience. Not to mention, this now EXTENDS my MNSSHP time past midnight - so I'm getting "more" to my party!

4. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE desserts - especially beautiful, work of art desserts, so there's value to me in the desserts being offered. Not to mention - I LOVE cheese. Dessert AND cheese??!! <<Mind blown>> :faint:

5. And to crown it all - I'll have the opportunity to meet, interact, and get photos of a half dozen villains/characters in ONE HOUR that would normally take me hours to meet. HUGE value to me.

So…that's just me…but that tells you why I, personally, found it worth it. I can spend $99 on junky souvenirs that last less than a month - or I can spend $99 for a night full of priceless memories.

Does everyone get the same value? Of course not. I'll never understand the value of staying in a deluxe resort - but I would never begrudge anyone from staying there, or make negative comments about it. JMO.

Are you trying to get this shut down? Please stop, it is an interesting thread.

I was just generalizing. Ok stupid idea may have not been the best choice of words. I stand by my position of not seeing where this is worth $99. I swear the suits are just throwing stuff out there to see how much they can get away with before people say enough is enough.

I haven't read through all of the replies yet but I can't seem to wrap my mind around how seating for a fireworks show and parade( which you have already paid for with your party ticket) 4 desserts, and the opportunity to meet costumed college students is worth $99. It just confirms my belief that all you need is a legal, stupid idea and people will throw money your way.

Hey Pat I have some ocean front property in Pennsylvania if you are interested. Wow PT Barnum was right.;)

cakebaker patrickpiteo has been part of this thread for a while. Some of us were hanging out here with facebook abd twitter links last night during the 1st soiree

I think you just made an honest mistake with your post, the person being uncivil was not him

I truly hope the thread stays open and goes back to the give & take of different opinions and sharing of info in the spirit that has been here.

I do not think the soiree will increase the crowds. The tickets are limited. We went to MNSSHP last year. We grabbed a sweet treat and drinks and found a spot near the parade entrance (by Splash Mountain) 30min before the parade started. The crowd was not bad at all. It was a great location!

Seems lately if you don't agree with someone here you get attacked.. Just my honest oppion

Been in this forum many years and this is the first time I ever felt that way..

From the reviews I read, the party itself was a light attendance night so I think it's hard to tell just how it will be when there are more people there. I also read reviews that said the reserved section wasn't crowded at all.

Whatever the crowd level, since apparently the soiree only seats maybe 120-130 if that many, I doubt it will make much difference in the parks.

Thanks for clarification KC Sherry. I don't begrudge anyone for spending money if they feel it is worth it to them. But Pat kinda came at me with guns a blazin and never explained his/her side of it and called me classless for having an opinion that was different from his/hers
