Villas at WL question

How is the walk from the transportation back to the villas and vise versa. Im worried about wildlife after dark coming back from the parks.

I found a club level at yaht club that would be $20 less per peron than the 2 bedroom at VWL but in order to get that price i have to get rid of the DDP. The others in my group think vwl with dining plan ks better than yaht club with no dining, but the wildlife is making me anxious.

Please let me know how the trail at vwl is. Thanks!

There is a pier and pathway that basically goes around the pool when you get off the boat and a pathway from the bus stop directly to the villa. You may encounter birds and bugs - same wildlife you will see at any WDW resort or park. There is "wildlife" at YC, too.

Im mostly worried about the snakes at night by the trail. Bugs are gross but theyre not freaking me out.

I don't recall ever seeing a snake on either the pathway to the buses or the boat. (Bugs, absolutely.) I haven't been there in a year or two, but the pathway from the buses was off the ground/concrete, if that helps. Here is a picture (hope it is ok to link to this - if not, please delete!): http://www.chipandco.com/wilderness-lodge-refurbishment-progress-report-232181/photo-10-2/. The pathway to the right is to the buses; if you go straight you are at the villas.

I would stick with the villas and DDP, but I love the outdoor feel of WL.

That photo helps, thanks!

I have been to WDW and stayed onsite over 30 times (including VWL) and have never seen a snake anywhere. Can I guarantee you won't see one? No, but I think your chances of not seeing one are very good.

I've seen a snake but it was in Epcot not WL. If you're outside even in your backyard you have a chance of seeing a critter.

The pathways at WL/VWL really aren't any different than the pathways at the Yacht Club, or any other resort. You're not on a dirt trail, or walking through woods. Coming back from the boat, you're on a raised wooden walkway for part of the way, and on concrete the rest of the way. From the buses, you're on sidewalk for a short bit, and then a raised wooden walkway.

If you're not going to climb into the bushes, you have no need to fear a snakebite. :)
