Villains sinister soiree 2015?

Thank you. Somebody gets it. The Soiree folks got duped some anyway... they got the old school Maleficent, not the live action one.

It was well worth it for the reserved fireworks and parade alone. The characters and food was just a nice bonus. Kids got a lot extra attention from the parade, and the cm that was working the line at the reserved area remembered us six months later, which is awesome.

That's exactly the one I wanted. Unless live action Maleficent is actually Angelina Jolie I couldn't care less.

Seems like it really twists your nipple that people spent $$$ and enjoyed themselves.
I will say, though, the Jolie-ficent one at Villains Unleashed was a pretty amazing M&G, they did an excellent job.

I have a very different stance on reserved viewing for fireworks and parades, especially when you pay for it or even just with FP+. Sure, you may get some "extra" attention, but it's the same parade and fireworks for everyone. I've never had a bad view of parades or fireworks in either MK or EPCOT, and not once have I ever used a FP+ or paid for the spot I stood in. This comment of the characters and food being a bonus just shows that people are willing to throw money at ANYTHING to get out of having to wait for something, all the while, I paid less and still saw the same parade and fireworks.

And to each his own...

My problem lies with the fact that a week before the parties started, Disney pulled a bait and switch adding the soiree. That wasn't a conditional fine print item, that was a major change permanent to the event for the year. They took experiences away from a hard ticket, separate admission event, without adding something to keep the initial value.

I totally agree with that. It was really rotten. And we didn't have tickets or attend. And I probably would have sprung for and been excited about the Soiree. But I thought the last minute pulling of previously regular party characters was really rotten.

I don't disagree with most of that. Still doesn't really seem to match dissing the people that paid to go and and enjoyed it.

I wasn't happy that I had to pay $500 to see the 3 characters that I bought the MNSSHP tickets for in the first place months prior. I think it's crap to take something out of the main party, to add in an extra cost item for something that's already an extra cost item. However, I enjoyed what it was and there's really no reason to continuously beat up the people that went, paid, and enjoyed it.

If you thought it was crap that they did it, why did you buy into it then to the tune of an extra $500?

Because it was the only way to see the villains we originally wanted to see in the first place. I wasn't happy I had to pay additional, but I wasn't going to go to the party and be disappointed that I didn't get to do what I wanted to do either.

My options were to pay additional and do/see who/what I want OR not pay and be upset about it. I can wish they didn't do it in the first place until I'm blue in the face, but it wouldn't change my options.

I see what you are saying, but I have felt that way about other things, like the frozen premium package that we did as well, it was a waste of money. It's not that my perception is always throw money at things. Some truly are awesome.

Well, great. I don't want to wait and sit for a parade to get a good spot.

We did 2 MNSSHP last trip. The first party ended up being sold out and we were 3 people deep in a crowd waiting for the parade about 45 minutes early which ended up being cancelled due to weather. I don't see the distaste for paying for something reserved for the same event. I do the F! dining package to get early/reserved seating because I like the convenience of not waiting. We do the dessert party for the MK fireworks reserved seating/convenience.

We're the opposite of one of the posters, in that we bought the soiree tickets for the characters/castle party, but I can't disagree that walking into the reserved viewing area 15 minutes before the parade and getting a front row spot for the parade/villains show/fireworks wasn't amazing. The people across from us were at least 4 deep, and the adults in our group all agreed the cost ended up being well worth it before we even entered the castle (our main draw).

Just because you don't see the draw or value in this stuff doesn't mean other people didn't/don't. Which is why I think it'd be great to offer the villains at the party and do the soiree. I imagine people would still eat up the goodies for the cost even if you could do similar things for free.

I would pay every penny that I paid for this event last year, to do it again this year. In fact, I'd go up to $50 more per person. The reserved parade seating alone was worth that much. I'd do it again in a heart beat, and will be disappointed if they don't offer it this year as well. I have been contemplating a long weekend in October to attend again, if they choose not to do the VSS again, I may change my mind.

Guys I'm telling you NO ONE goes to the very front of MK for the parades outside a few and my parties were sold out and both times I got front row seats.

I want to meet Maleficient, the Queen and Dr. facilier

It was worth for us. Sad nothing has been announced for this year. It was awesom showing up 15 minutes before the parade getting bottles of water and having an awesome spot to watch the parade at. The soirée itself was so much fun and I enjoyed the cheese and bread tray a lot.

As long as there are people willing to throw money at things like this, Disney will keep its hand outstretched. This is one event I will never do that Ive added to the list which includes the new Wished Dessert Party prices. Its not that I dont want to do it or couldnt afford it, its that I choose not to be a part of the ever greedy hand of Disney catering to the elite with money. When that hour or so is over and the fireworks are no more and the parade floats are back in the warehouse...I've still got $500 in my pocket and I saw the same fireworks and parade everyone else did. I'm not a character person either so that plays into it. But I wouldn't pay $500 to go on a date with Mickey Mouse, let alone see Maleficient (and Maleficent is my fav character btw).

LOL I didn't throw but willingly paid my decision best we ever did and would do it again ... All for the reasons on the stated by other posters before.. :cool1: And although I respect your decision not to participate it will not stop disney from doing more of these hard ticket things in the future.

That's great that you had that experience, but it is DEFINITELY not the norm for the first parade and only occasionally works for the second parade. Frontierland is an easier spot to get a last-minute spot for the parades than anywhere on Main Street.
