does anyone know when this event will be up for reservation for this year? i know its an add on to the MNSSHP but i can't find any info on how to add it on, or if it will even be offered this year. we are planning on attending the party and would like to hit the add on if its going to be offered we have a budget and can afford both!

As far as I know, there hasn't been any announcement yet about it taking place this year.

When my mom spoke to escalated guest services today to fix an issue with our reservation they told us there is no soiree this year :/ I hope they do do something else at least!

Several people have been told that it is not happening, and that something else will be offered. There has been no announcement for the "something else", other than a new stage show for 2015.

dang that is really heartbreaking, i was planning on suppressing my group with the add on :/ hopefully something else comes it looked like best way to meet the villains the dance party looks nice but theres no interaction other than dancing and I'm kinda using scooter as is
i do plan on dressing up though!!

I did it last year and it was great... I'm sure Disney will be doing something since it was so popular last year...

Why would they not have it this thing was booked out last year I called everyday for like 3 weeks BOOKED

It seemed fun and a personal way to meet all the villains!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that info on a special event will be announced this summer. I believe last year it wasn't released until june/july. is there a way to let disney know how many are interested in attending the soiree this year?

I'm assuming that they scrapped it because while it was popular for those who actually had the good luck to be able to book it, it also resulted in decreased value to the 1000s of other MNSSHP guests because there was no other way to meet several of the villains who appeared at it. I'm sure there were many, many complaints from those who would have booked it but were shut out, or those who objected to having to pay even more for exclusive access to characters after shelling out so much just to be at the party. Disney just didn't do a good job figuring out how to satisfy all of its customers with such an offering, and I think it's part of the reason why you didn't see an "special event inside a special event" at last year's MVMCP, either.

In the first few parties (I was at the 2nd MNSSHP) Disney gave back as much money as they probably made off the party. People were not happy with "extra admission" event inside of a hard ticket event. If you think about it, if you attended the soiree, you paid somewhere in the realm of $160+ to go to the Halloween party (that's just 1 person). They didn't learn fast enough from Villain's Unleashed and the soiree, while it was sold out every party, didn't go over well with people who were advertised to see certain villains and such. Yes, everything is subject to change, but the shortening of the parade, the mix and mingle-less show change with the added soiree... left a bad taste with a lot of guests.

This year they've already announced that certain villains will be appearing with their princesses and such at the M&G locations. So if Disney is cooking something up, they better get it announced soon, or it'll be 2 years in a row of bad business practice with making changes to the event AFTER ticket sales have started.

I was waiting for it... There was a line forming to throw money at getting out of waiting in line for the A&E M&G and it never happened. Mainly because I think Disney knew that riots would probably break out if they took A&E away from the party and hid them inside.

Yes, it was very late in terms of timing and that was a very bad business move on their part of when they announced it. I, myself, having that been my first party, was still in awe of it all, but I wouldn't do a Halloween party again. For cheaper I could get an extra day ticket w/hopper and hop over to MK area at Hallowishes time and then head back to my resort...

I hope not. The party is enough of an add on. I disagree strongly with adding on to the add on.

Nobody forces anyone to add or go.. The regular party still is the same.. Though they did change something's but again no one forces anyone to go nor should it take away from anyone's enjoyment of the party.

That's the problem. The soiree last year did take away from the party. The mix and mingle change (where they took away the mingle) allowed for Dr. Facilier to be taken to the Soiree (I can't remember if there were more), sure, he was also at the dance party in Frontierland later, but there's no photo-ops/M&G at the dance party.

You're right though that no one is forced, but Disney dropped the ball with advertising what they were doing. Had people been aware of the changes early enough, it could have swayed their decision about attending the party and such, instead of getting the surprises they did (like I said, I was at the 2nd party, so I was looking rather intently at reports from the 1st party). I also made sure that when questions came up after I got back that I supplied answers to help future guests for 2014.
