Hi All,

Planning a trip in October and hoping someone can help with a recommendation and contact details for a villa in one of these resorts. A 3 bed/2 bath would be fine. Found a few on the web but would prefer personal recommendation from people who've actually stayed there.

Many thanks!

Hi Phil,

I haven't actually stayed at these resorts, as I have my own villa at Oak Island Cove, but I know of other owners in and around these areas.

If you would like I can ask if they have availability for your preferred dates? Are you worried that maybe there is no villa or is it something else?

Thanks for your reply. Have sent you an email with details, but for the benefit of others, yes I have some concerns that there may be no villa as a couple fo the places I've found while searching the web have asked for substantial deposits to be paid to someone in the states via PayPal and a credit card. Perhaps I just have a suspicious nature, but that doesn't seem a good idea to me without some form of reference.

Hi Phil,
I am an owner at Emerald Island resort, I would not consider trying to sway you either way for fear of being accused of bias but both are beautiful resorts. What I found interesting are your comments about whether or not the Villa actually exists!
I have been having the same problems with US enquiries.
In the next few months, anyone will be able to check to see if a home has an annual short term rental licence which is required by all short term rental homes by state law. The web site they will appear on is www.myfloridalicense.com They were supposed to be online by February but who knows.
Paypal by the way is a very efficient way of moving money around, I use it all the time.

Phil, I haven't stayed at either resort, but I have stayed at several close by and I am familiar with both those you mention.

We have always rented directly with UK owners and have never experienced any problems. Have you bought the villa magazines available at WH Smith? It's a good place to start. Most are UK owned and many have websites which give you a really good idea of precisely what you will be renting.

There are quite a few other new sub-divisions very close to Windsor Palms and Emerald Island - let me know if you want a list!

Have stayed at Windsor Palms and can recommend it. We stayed in June last year and the kids enjoyed the communal pool more than the pools we have had at private rented villas. Check out this site http://www.windsor-palms-resort.com/index.html , a useful starting point. By the way I am going back to Windsor Palms in August, can't wait!
