Villa question - RCI

My parents own a timeshare through RCI. I see that all of the DVC properties are listed on the RCI resort list. If we book through them, can we still get the dining plan and magical express? If anyone has experience with this, please let me know. Thanks.

I am not sure what the rules are with RCI, but I know when DVC traded with Interval International, I was able to use Magical Express and book the dining plan. They charge a $95 "resort fee" for the trade to be able to use these amenities.

That's correct. You pay the exchange fee up front to book the week. You receive a confirmation and are able to contact Member Services to arrange for the Magical Express. I'm not sure about the dining plan, but I'm sure you can also arrange it at the same time and pay for it then or at check-in where you will be charged a $95 resort fee(which pays for resort amenities which are usually free, i.e. transportation, etc.).

All dining plans must be paid for in advance now (when added to the reservation), I do not think that would be any different for RCI exchanges - no paying or adding it at check-in.

I own weeks so I'm not sure how points work. I can tell you that, in my opinion, the trading power for the weeks unit was greatly inflated. For example, I can get 3 weeks in a 2BR at Wyndham Bonnet Creek and don't have enough trading power for a 2BR at WDW any more. I hadn't had a problem the past two years. And, that's with a week in Hawaii.

You can use the discounted RCI rate at any time. I found it much cheaper to rent points from a DVC member.

For example,
Disney's Wilderness Lodge is $4700 for a 1BR and $2700 for a studio. Comparitively, I stayed in a savanna view studio at AKL for $200 a night.

That's a good question - Orlando based timeshares cannot trade into DVC (since I don't own a non-DVC timeshare, I don't know any more details on that).

PS - to the OP - this is a question better suited to the DVC boards - more of the timeshare/RCI/DVC experts are found there.

right now they are insane more than Disney would charge - for SSR and BWV for March/april - they want (are you seating) $10,800....

Disney rates are $490 to a high of $565 per night - that does not equal $10,800.

so definitely go with a DVC member and just rent a reservation from them.
