Hi

We will be booking our villa for Oct 2006, but we are not sure if we would need the pool heated. The owner said not many people ask for heating at that time of year.

Would you recommend having the pool heating for two weeks or 1 week (second week).

I know exactly your dilemma...we went last October to our first villa and didn't know what to do either.

In the end we didn't book the heating [knowing that we could have it turned on once we arrived, if we decided it was too cold].

In reality, the water was never really warm but the kids didn't mind...once they get playing, they don't seem to bother. And I felt the same. On a hot day it was so great to be able to cool down in the pool. On the less warm days we still used it, but the initial jump-in wasn't always pleasant.

Looking back, if we were to go back in October again, we would not heat our pool.

BUT, if you aren't one to swim and play, and would rather relax in a pool, then go for the heating.

A difficult one - to be honest it can depend on the pool and how well maintained it is , as well as the weather.
We booked a villa one year and opted for heating and it didn't to be honest feel that warm..other times it has been great so.....?

If the pool is South Facing, ie gets the sun all day I would say no do not get heating , if it is not I would get it.

It also depends how warm you like your pool.
Personally, I love a really warm pool (unless i'm swimming laps), which isn't really possible without heating.

We own a rental home in Emerald Island and as an owner we recomend pool heat from Oct.-April. It is at your discretion. Not always do you need it. We keep our pool heated all year long. So pool heat is not an issue for our guests. Most rental homes charge a minimum of 25.00 per day so it is pricey if you do not need it. I would keep an eye on the weather in Florida before you go and see if you think you will need it or if once you get there and you feel you need it have them turn it on. Just so you understand it will take a good 12 hours or so to heat. Lots of gallons of water there. I know we have a pool up north and my kids swim the first day we open it and the water temp has been 6o something degrees so if it is for the kids it might not be needed. Me on the other hand if it is not 80 I don't step in but I am a wimp! Not sure if I gave you any true help sorry.

Precisely. If you are like me and hate getting into a pool if it's the slightest bit chilly, then I would pay to have it heated. Even during the hottest months, the pool is too cold for me if it hasn't been heated. I do agree that you get used to it once you're in it, but I prefer to have it at a constant pre-determined temperature.

We have booked our villa with pool heating, We did get the rental for the right price as we had a strong bargaining chip with wanting a 3 week stay. So i negotiated an all in price to meet our max budget.

Good job as Sarah gets cold at 15 degrees higher than everyone else.

me too. I'm one of those who just loves getting into bath temperature water.
i won't even put my toe in, if it's the slightest bit chilly.

Our Joshua will jump into any water, even if it's freezing cold..obviously a tough Northern lad. :)

I think i would get heat as i can't stand the cold. We booked it for feb but went we went to get in the pool was freezing.I could see the neighbours pool smoking it was so warm so i asked them.It turned out the guy i asked was the pool guy,he came straight round and turned it up.We couldn't get in it for the next day or 2 as it was too HOT.He had to come out and turn it down. :rotfl:

Hi

Thanks for the tips my dh thinks he will pay for the second week to be heated, as we will prob use it more then. If it is too cold then we will phone the management company to turn it on straight away and at least one weeks would of been paid for already.

Thanks again
