Villa Help Required!

Hi all,

We have visited Orlando 10 times!! but have never stayed in a villa. So this year we have decided to try a villa out. Having looked around, we have a choice of the following locations;

Glenbrook,
Highgrove Estate,
Windsor Palms, and,
Highlands Reserve.

Have anybody stayed at the above locations and could offer their opinion on the best place to stay.....Thanks in advance...Paul.

I can't help as have never stayed in a villa before but just wated to say hi and someone more knowledgeable than me should be along shortly!

We have stayed in villas lots of times - but never on any of those communities.
Can I ask why you have narrowed it down to those ones? Is it because of particular villas that are in your short list?

The only one i've heard off out of your list is Windsor Palms. It's a decent size villa estate with gated entrance, in a great location - close to WDW, easy access to Universal Orlando & Seaworld (if you're planning on going there) & close to everything else like restaurants & shopping places in Lake Buena Vista, Kissimmee & down International Drive. Couldn't get any better than that really?

I've just looked up the other 3 & i'm not very sure about them (they're quite far from what i've mentioned), so i'd suggest going with Windsor Palms, definitely!

I am familiar with all 4.

Windsor Palms in my opinion is extremely well located, close to WDW, the I4, restaurants and a nearby Publix at Orange Lake.

The homes are also very nice and it's gated too.

Out of the one's you list that would be my choice.

We've stayed in villas in the above 3 that I have highlighted. We usually are allocated a villa upon arrival (have done this over 10 times and never had a problem, some DISers are reluctant to do so) so I don't know if you're looking at individual villas or going through a company that gives you one when you arrive. We found all three villas to be pretty similar. They all had a sizeable pool and deck area and usually more bedrooms than we asked for. They are often inhabited by locals and I believe all three are gated communities. Driving distances aren't too bad from any of them either.

However, if you're going through an individual to rent a particular property, the property may be different. I have honestly found most villas to be similar in terms of pool size, decor, driving etc.

We stayed at Highland Reserve last time we went and are staying there again in August. We liked it, nice and quiet and there is a Publix nearby. Although it is down the I27 it never took us long to get to the parks. We booked it through Thompsons (got a really good deal).

We have stayed at Windsor Palms and thought it was a nice community, gated and quiet (while we were there anyway)

This community is close to WDW and near to a SuperTarget, Publix and some nice places to eat. As others have said most of the villas are individually owned so can vary in standard.

Thanks for all your responses, the reason for these listed is puerly down to price, the company i'm looking to book with has come back with the following (travelling from 18th June for 2 weeks, 4 adults & 1 child)

Highgrove estates - £3,765,
Glenbrook Homes - £3,809
Windsor Palms - £3,893
Tuscany Villas - £3,918
Highlands Reserve - £4,004

What do you all think?

If you are just asking for opinion on the villa prices I would go for Windsor Palms.
Having stayed there and driven around the other developments you list I think it's the nicest and the best located also.

However, I prefer to be closer to the 192 in Kissimmee, some you list are on the US27 which isn't my preference, so my answer
is reflected in that to a degree.

Hi we have stayed on the Highgrove gated community. We were in a large 4bed room villa but some of the other villas were very small and I felt quite close together. We did back onto a sewage farm but there was a large field between us and I can honestly say we never smelt a thing. Highgrove is on the 27 right at the end of the 192 you actually need to do a u turn on highway 27. There is a huge Walmart within walking distance plus a McDonald's, also close by are various restaurants. We found a short cut into the back of Disney which was about a 15 minute drive. Hope this helps have a great holiday.

We have been staying in villas for about the last 18years, and now prefer the villas in the Davenport area on highway 27 as we like the location (close to the I4 & 192) plus the villas are alot newer.

Have stayed on Highlands Reserve 3times but villas are now a few years old.

We really like Highgate Park which is on Legacy Park which is about 3 estates down.

Its a gated community, lovely views & very quite. We have just returned from 3wks in a fantastic villa which we have already reserved for this christmas&id be more than happy to let you have the details if you'd like?

Out of interest have you looked at booking everything yourself to see how it compares? We are going in September and have just booked 4 adults and 1 child ourselves. Flights came in at £2,500 (from Manchester with VA). Villa came was £850 for 2 weeks. That way you can pick which ever villa you want and will often get better value.

You might have already tried this, but just a thought.
