Viggle App: Get rewards for watching television!

If she is using any ipod older than 4th generation, it has no microphone. One of ours is a 2nd gen. and it did the same thing. I thought it would just let me do manual check in, but I guess it has to listen for something first. I bought a little microphone from ebay to plug into the headphone jack and now it works fine. It is just a small black microphone and was about $2.

Like the PP said, I bet she doesn't have a microphone installed on her device

That did the trick!! I asked her if she was using her older iPod Touch or her iPhone and she was on the iPod Touch at the time. She obviously has the newer version of the app and it appears they "fixed" this because I know I was able to use my son's iPod Touch (same version) about 2 weeks ago when I couldn't find my iPhone and I didn't have my special microphone earbuds plugged in and it worked fine. I hadn't updated the version at that time. I did think it was "odd" it allowed me to check in on his iPod Touch w/out speakers but it worked. I thought - these Viggle people are probably in my house somewhere...ha ha :lmao:

Thanks again guys = she is happy now and hopefully I'll get 200 points for this. I didn't when my Mom signed up so if not, I will email them this time.

I've noticed my account has not been updating with the full amount of points....the other night a pop-up notification said here's +420 for watching xxx. My point total only increased 120 points....so I didn't get the check-in bonus points for that featured show. :sad1:

This has happened a handful of times to me. So I've e-mailed Viggle Support and they are taking forever to look into it. Their standard fix was "log out and log back in." So now that that didn't work, it's like they are confused as to how to solve my problem. I'll keep this thread updated if they get back to me.

I'm still waiting to hear from them since the 2/29. They referred my account to the product team for review. I did not get my 10,000 points for picking the correct Daytona 500 winner. I kept getting the same generic responses and finely she just said I'm referring your account. I think it was a way to just get me off her back. :rotfl:

I just heard back from Viggle, and of course got the response I was afraid of: We ran a trace on your account and you are getting all the points you've earned.:confused: They even sent me the "trace script" they ran...I'm no engieneer and have no idea how to read it! :rotfl2: So I guess I'll have to take their word for it.

I am a very detailed Viggle user. I write down my point total all the time and I know there were shows that I did not receive the bonus check-in points. But Viggle gets the final word, so there's nothing more I can do. :sad2:

I just wrote them a long, constructive e-mail about adding a Points Log or something that will help Viggle users track points better. Right now all we can do is be at the mercy of Viggle....

Hope you get your 10,000 points from the Daytona 500. I'd be super mad if I were out 10,000 points!

Have there been any trivia questions lately?? I just joined Viggle about a week ago, but have never seen any trivia? I do see the movie trailers and commercials which can earn 30 points, but not trivia. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place?? Thanks!!

Nope, you're in the right place. Viggle hasn't had trivia in weeks...not sure if it's coming back.

But the ads and trailers are pretty cool, it's a way to get extra points! :thumbsup2

Thanks OP for posting this thread. I joined yesterday and got 1,500 pts, I've watched a trailer and a couple of commercials and gotten points for those. It allowed me to check in last night for part of a movie and for a Criminal Minds rerun. When I got up this morning I tried to check in since DH watches ESPN every morning, all I got was the circle trying to load.

I was really just fooling around with it to see how it worked, but I do have some questions.

Can I check into more than one program at a time? Some of the featured shows I watch all of the time, but they come on at the same time so I DVR one and watch the other-can I get points for both? How?

I found my check in history, is there a way I can see how many points each check in gave me?

You can only check into one show at a time. DVR'd shows need to be watched within 7 days of air date, however you don't get the check-in bonus for DVR'd shows. Or at least that's what other users have said. There has been 2 DVR'd shows that I have gotten the check-in bonus for!

DVR'd shows are a bit different from live shows. With live shows you can do the audio, and if that fails you can do a manual check-in.

For the DVR shows if the audio doesn't recognize what you're watching, then you're out of luck. You can not do a manual check-in with DVR shows.

At this time there is no way that Viggle tracks your points in the app, for users to see. Your total points show up in the upper right hand corner. And notifications pop-up when you receive points. (I'm sure as you've seen from the ads you've watched..)

I wonder how many times you can watch the ads, like the Miracle Whip ones. I've watched them a bunch of times now for 30 points and they've been crediting me.

I've noticed trivia once during survivor...I think it's most likely during reality shows. That said, I haven't seen trivia since the Daytona 500.

Technically only 2x's a day

Ok, I feel crazy. How long does it take for the pop up screen saying that you are being given the points to pop up? I watch the ad and wait....nada. But if I click on my user button in the corner, it gives me the points after taking me to that screen :confused3

Maybe I'm not waiting long enough

And can you watch the ads 2x per day or just 2x total? And how do you keep up with that?

Sometimes the notification will pop up saying you got points and sometimes it won't....Sometimes they pop up all together all of a sudden 15 minutes later on after another...I've noticed it's not very consistent most of the time

The following is from Viggle FAQs:

You may not accumulate points for any particular engagement more than twice in one day.

Many of us assume that an "engagement" is an ad/movie trailer.

You really can't keep track of that. Viggle changes out the ads through out the day, so it's hard for me to remember which ones I've hit. Having said that, yes I've probably gone over the limit, but have never gotten in trouble for it.

On other forum boards that talk about Viggle, there seem to be several Viggle members who rack up points doing the ads. Some of been suspended or banned from Viggle.

Viggle has mentioned time and time again that the source of the bulk of your points should come from watching TV. The ads & trailers are meant to supplement, but you should do it sparingly.

I hope I ask this correctly. Say you sign in for a show that has bonus points and you watch it for 10 minutes but then can't stand the show and you want to turn the channel (or even turn off tv to go to bed), does viggle know that you turned the channel or turned the tv off. How does viggle know you are still watching the show. This program is killing me because I like to channel surf but I want to get the points so I sit there bored out of my mind just to get points.

The assumption made by Viggle is that you watch the whole show, but if you check in and hate it I don't see a problem channel surfing. Two points per minute on the one channel is the same two points on another.

I was just reading the Viggle weekly newsletter and it says 'Watch for chances to play along with Viggle Live this week.' :surfweb:

Hopefully this will amount to something....that week to play Viggle Live with American Idol turned out to be a bust.

Also, what's up with Viggle having a "featured reward" every week? These aren't even discounted at all. JC Penny $10 e-card for 14,000 points same as usual...

The Viggle Deal used to change on a weekly basis. Wonder if they will switch it out soon....the Hollywood Movie Money has been there for a few weeks now. Not that I'm complaining or anything! More of an observation. :surfweb:

Newbie question here. How do you know if you're logged in? I logged in or checked in or whatever for Biggest Loser but then what? Nothing looks different.

I've been using the app since this thread started and the only time I've ever gotten a pop up screen for points is during the live trivia. My points just show up in my total.

When I'm checked into a show there is a box on the top left of the screen with the show name and a check mark that's how I know I'm checked in.

Well...It won't let you into the program without being logged in. It would ask you to log in if you aren't logged in. Now I think you are asking how to tell if you are checked into a show. In the top left corner of your screen you should see a little box with a pink check mark in it...that means you are checked into the show.
