We' stayed at SSR in the past but only in a studio. Had a great view when in the Paddock building and a not so good view in Congress Park. We're staying in a 2br in Dec. My question is, are the views good from all 2 bedrooms or is there a building or area we should request?

We stayed in the Springs section earlier this month in the building that faces the Springs bus stop. It may not have been much to look at but it was nice to see outside our patio window what bus just pulled off. It wasn't very private though but we didn't mind. We just had to remember to close the shades if we were changing clothes or something like that. When I walked around the complex, I saw many areas in the Springs, Paddocks and Congress Park that seemed like they had lovely views.

All in all, I wouldn't have traded being so close to a bus stop (almost literally right outside our patio door) and the main pool for a prettier view but that's just me. And there were quite a few days I pulled up a chair in the warm afternoon sunshine and read a book and people watched as the folks walked back and forth down the path.

Getting a DTD veiw seems to be the most popular, and it was beautifull, but our last stay in the Springs had the view of the lake and fountain and was also wonderfull. Have not stayed in the Paddock so cant comment on the veiw. Looks like its all nice from the walk around the resort. Have a great trip :cool1:

I've been wondering about views myself. Are there any units that actually have a view of the parking lots? We have requested a water view. What are the chances we could get a view of cars? We have two 2-bedroom villas booked.

Our last trip, we stayed in Congress Park and had a DTD view. I requested pool view and although we were steps from the quiet pool, it was more of a pool house view. It was still a great spot and we were VERY pleased and I would say they did honor our request.

While there, I took note of the Congress Park rooms that face the parking lot/bus stop. There are about 36 units that meet this criteria in all of Congress Park. I counted the balconies.

I think SSR has done a great job of creating desireable views. All of them are not perfect that's for sure, but the chances of getting a nice view are greatly improved over other resorts. The Paddocks even has really nice views of the lake, the fountain and the bridge.

The Springs has nice fountain/lake views also. The end units face the main street.

The Carousel is not completed but they are adding a waterway there also.

The Fairway Villas will have AWESOME views. Golf Course and the waterway that the boats take to OKW and PO/FQ.

We are going for the first time this August and need advise. Do you request a specific building the same as if you were staying a a regular resort? Do we fax the room assigner 2 days prior to arrival? Any help will be appreciated. My mom has trouble getting around, so I was going to request The Springs.

Thanks LIFERBABE. We'd love a view of DTD but when I booked I didn't realize you have to specifically request a DTD view. I just said water view in Congress Park if available. Any water view would work for me but I really don't want to look at the parking lot from my balcony. The Fairways area sounds awesome. Maybe they will be booking there by december?

As far as requesting a specific view or building, you can definitely let MS know what building you prefer but of course nothing is guaranteed. SSR is quite a large resort and even though I feel spoiled by our 2 bedroom location in the Springs section, I think for our trip next year that I'll request the Springs again but make up my mind to be happy whever they put us. It's such a role of the dice and I admit I was a bit disappointed when we first checked in and we were told we would be put in the Paddocks section even though I had requested Springs. I'm not sure what happened but something did because when we called to see if our room was ready, it turned out we were put in the Springs as I asked.

Being without a car, I'm more interested in the distance from the main building first, then a bus stop second. Again, you can call MS and request a view but I don't think with DVC you can do the faxing the room assigner thing. Maybe someone else can verify that though.

Thanks for the info. This is our first time 'home' and wasn't sure about how everything works!

This is an interesting link, shows the location of studios, 1 bedrooms & 2 bedrooms

We have stayed in a 1 bedroom with a perfect DTD view Congress Park

Last year when we checked in on Jan 1st early afternoon (2 bedroom lock-off), we didnt get a room until 8pm and it was in Congress park overlooking the parking lot/bus stop.

After about 4 or 5 days we moved to the other side of the building (2 bedroom lock-off) with another perfect view of DTD.

By the way...the kids still talk about how much they liked the view of the bus stop....kept them busy sitting on the balcony watching the people & buses come and go :confused3

I know the views are irrelavent to some, but we do like to have a good view as we spend a great amount of time at our resort and do not spend all day/night at the parks.

For our next trip we requested the Springs :)

Same here. I have fibromyalgia and sometimes have to return early to the room so it's nice to have a nice view to look at. Thanks for the floor plan link. It was interesting to see the set-up. We have two 2-bedroom units booked and one is suppose to be a lock-off. We'd like to be as close to each other as possible.

When is the best time to ring MS to request a room? - we leave in 7 weeks - I just wondered when they actually allocate the room guests are staying in.

We were just at SSR a couple of weeks ago. We were in CP with a wonderful view of DTD. We really loved the view. It was a walk to get to Artist Palette, main pool etc., but the view from our villa was wonderful.
BTW, I do not know if anybody in your party is a smoker, but presently there are only smoking rooms in 3 buildings at SSR. One building in the Paddocks section and 2 at CP. I could have these numbers reversed and it could be 2 in the Paddocks and one at CP, but it definitley only 3 buildings in the whole resort and not every villa in the building is smoking optional. We could not care one way or the other; but overheard all this information when the CM was talking to the guest checking in, next to us.
