I can book ADRs today and I was thinking to keep 4th of July for AK and perhaps see the MK fireworks on 3rd.

So far I am thinking either DR in MK and try to book dessert package, or just get on with the crowds or book ADR at Ohana and see them at the breach. Will we be ok to stay for the Fireworks after the meal?

Were would you watch the 4th of July fireworks from?

I will be at Poly, and may just watch from the beach there. But, I was also told to book dinner at Crystal Palace, and you can see from there? We are also doing MK on the 3rd, and Epcot on the 4th. (Will be at BCV on the 4th, switching resorts).

Do you think they will allow people eating at Ohana on 3rd to remain at Polly and see the fireworks from there?

As to the bold, I wouldn’t do that plan. You don’t want your CP dinner to overlap with fireworks time if you want any reasonable fireworks view of the 7/3 or 7/4 show.

This is kind of long, sorry.

People on the boards and various Disney guidebooks will tell you Poly restricts beach access to registered Poly guests on big holiday fireworks like 7/4.

I stayed at Poly this year and watched both the 7/3 and 7/4 fireworks from there (it was our first time staying over 7/4). I personally did not see anyone checking resort status for those there to watch the fireworks. I know they have done this in the past from what I’ve read, but I didn’t see it this year. (The only exception to this is a small roped off area reserved for Poly Club Level guests)

If they were to be checking resort status this coming year, then your Ohana ADR isn’t going to help you. But, for 7/3, I wouldn’t be too worried about it - you’ll ‘likely’ be OK if I used this year as a guide (always a bit dangerous, but more of a calculated assessment on my part).

As to where to watch the MK fireworks (for either the 7/3 or 7/4 show), really anywhere around the Seven Seas Lagoon is a good spot. It’s a “360 degree” show - so fireworks are launched from the traditional MK spot, the 180 degree party launch sites, and the island in the middle of the lagoon. The island launch site mirrors what’s shot off from the traditional behind the MK location. It really brings the fireworks more front/center from anywhere on the lagoon (GF, Poly, CR, TTC).

To help with a visual, see pics below...

(Note, these pics were taken from the third floor of the Hawaii longhouse, the main beach area where people watch is just to the left of this).

A good example of the launch sites going all at once - it’s definitely cool! Also, for this show, they park the EWP floats in front of Poly (you can see it in the pic below). They also play the show audio from these floats, so that helps counter the occasional dead/low volume spot on the Poly grounds.

FWIW, on 7/4 Poly did pull out the sidewalk tape for crowd control. Honestly, it was never crowded enough for this to be needed, from my perspective. But it made me laugh. Taping skills obviously not as good as the MK CMs!

it looks good! Thanks for the detailed info - very helpful. It appeals more than trying to see it from inside the park I have to say

In 2016, we watched the July 3rd fireworks from the boat docks just outside of MK and July 4th we watched Epcot's with very little crowds.

Last year we booked a meal at California Grill on the 3rd July and viewed the fireworks from there. It was amazing and I think you can access the viewing platform even if you dining reservation was earlier in the evening :)

If you mean from in CP, no. There's no view from inside at all
Even from right outside CP, they are very obstructed. It's not at all a place I would go to watch fireworks.
