Viewing Fireworks Without the Noise

Does anyone have suggestions on where to view fireworks but not too close? My 4 y/o (soon to be 5) DS does not like the loud noise of fireworks. I also have a 1y/o DS.

Also - does anyone have a child that doesn't like fireworks but could sit through Fantasmic? I love that show and would hate to miss it.

We are going to WDW in December for 1 week and staying at CBR. We plan to visit all the parks and have the park hopping option.

We are going Sept. 29 - Oct 5 and have made reservations at California Grill for a late dinner and viewing of the fireworks. We have not done this before, but my cousin was recently there on her honeymoon and she said it was amazing. If you don't know, CF is on top of the Contemporary Resort. Apparenlty, they turn down the lights and pipe in the music and it is supposed to be a fantastic show. We are so excited about it! I'll post when we return and let you know what we thought.

As far as Fantasmic, we have DD7.5, DD5, and DS 2.5. We went to Disney when DDs were almost 5 and just turned 2. THey are not usually afraid of loud noises. They got a little frightened with Fantasmic, but I was able to talk them through it and the "happy ending" came quickly enough that they were okay with it.

I echo the suggestion of California Grill for viewing the MK fireworks. The Fanstamic show would be borderline intense. Maybe choose a seat at the back so that you can make a quick exit if necessary. It's worth trying to see it.

Sorry, my DD (5.5 at the time) hated fireworks and *really* hated Fantasmic.

my dd4 is not into loud noises, loves the fireworks but holds her ears. She didn't mind Fantasmic at all - was totally into it. I say try it but sit towards the back so it isn't as intense and you can make a quick get away if needed. I would recommend MK's fireworks on the Poly beach or at Ohana's and I would suggest skipping Illuminations - not fun for kids and VERY loud, lots of booms.

my son have very sensitive hearing such that it impacts on day to day life. an easy fix for these guys is a trip to a local sporting goods store, for less than 10.00 you can buy a pair of ear guards (like headphones, gun enthusiasts use them to protect their hearing). we call them "our pilot headphones" my son takes them to the movies for when the noise gets too intense (you can hear through them, but it is greatly diminished re. loud noise), and has taken them to fireworks showings.

as a side note-i get terrible migranes, and have found that they are fantastic for filtering out noise .

best investment i've found.

WE've watched from the ticket and transportation center. Great view and no mass exit .

You can see some of the Epcot fireworks from the Y&BC or Boardwalk. Not as good as being up close, but not as noisy either.

Our dd (5) is not fond of fireworks but did enjoy them from Ohanas the first night and then from the poly beach the next few nights after that. They aren't that loud from the beach at the Polynesian. We didn't even think about Fantasmic.

I second the pp about the use of ear plugs. I wish that I had thought of this during our last trip in 2004 for our ds(4). He hates loud noises too but loves the fireworks. This might also work for rides like Thunder Mountain. He loved the ride but hated the loud noises from the climb in the tunnel. We did not do Fantasmic with him because I thought that it would be too intese from what I had read. After viewing the fireworks on Main Street I was happy with my decision. Hope that you are able to work something out for your ds so that he can enjoy the fireworks. We also viewed them from the Poly beach and could barely hear the music but still really enjoyed the show.
