We're staying at the Polynesian and will be within viewing distance of the fireworks for the first time. The only benefit I can think of to deal with the crowds and joust for a good spot is that at the resort we would miss out on the music that accompanies the show. Do they play the music at the resort? Or is there a radio station/XM that we could tune in to while we watch?

Thanks!

Unless it's changed because of the construction, they pipe the music in at the Poly beach.

Outside, they pipe in the music along the sidewalk that runs along the Poly beach (but it is far too low low in volume.)

If you stay inside and your room faces MK, I also think that they provide the audio on one of the TV channels at the resort.

If you want to see and hear the MK fireworks VERY WELL outside, walk over to the TTC.

I've gone a couple of times since NYE and they have barges that have big speakers and pump in the music. They locate themselves along the beach, I've seen 3 of them. I could hear the music perfectly.
