I'm able to score an 8pm reservation for the Liberty Tree Tavern. Fireworks at 9... will Liberty Square provide a good vantage point for the fireworks? I know we won't get the Castle views, but will we have some enjoyment and enough "oooohing" and "ahhhhing" moments? :-)

There's a very good chance that you'll miss the fireworks entirely.

If you are out in time, you can see some of the fireworks, but it's not a great view - there's a lot of tree cover.

Maybe someone out there knows of a good location around liberty square, but I've never found it.

Agreed.

If you do go outside to see the show at 9PM, head to the entrance of the Riverboat attraction.
There is a stone wall there (where you can sit down) that offers good views of the fireworks.
As you said, no castle projection views.

Just back from WDW. We had a blast watching fireworks from behind the castle, but over to the Fantasyland side. There's still so much to enjoy even without views of the castle. And you can simply show up to watch right when they start vs staking out a spot an hour early.

If you're out from your dinner in time, I'd make the quick walk behind the castle to the other side of it. The big fireworks shoot off from behind the back of Big Top Souvenirs. It's a bit loud back there, but fun to be able to walk and/or sit on a wall while enjoying the fireworks. One night DS and I rode Barnstormer over and over again while they went off - a memory we'll never forget!

Edited to add: It's certainly not as good as watching from the front. There are fireworks (and the projections) that come from the castle and there are the big fireworks coming from the back of the park. From the front of the castle it looks like a seamless production. From the rear you have to look back and forth a bit, in addition to losing the projections. BUT, for us, that was well worth it to get to keep enjoying the park until the moment the show started, plus the benefit of having plenty of room to move around and sit. So, if it's worth it to you to keep that ADR then you can still enjoy the show from a less desirable spot. :)

We also watch from old Fantasyland, for the same reasons. My kids are all still little, and no way can stake out a place hour(s) in advance, and the crowds and rudeness put a huge damper on our day. It's worth it to me, in a huge way, to miss the view of the castle.

Agree good chance you won’t be out yet but if so we have enjoyed from sitting on park bench right in front of riverboat. A great view is bridge or along boardwalk closer to SM.

Agree with PPs that you probably won't see the fireworks, if your reservation is at 8. Not only 'could' they be running behind at that point in the day, but why would you want to rush through a meal. LTT is very nice and worth your time to enjoy it. JMHO, you should decide which of the two events is your priority and go with that.

would encourage you to try and get a castle view. the best Disney show ever--and I cried when I heard they cancelled Wishes!! simply amazing, a must-see, far better seeing that than eating a table service meal!

I haven't watched Happily Ever After from Liberty Square, but we did watch Wishes from that area several times. It isn't the same as watching from the hub area, but it was still enjoyable.

However, as a couple of others have pointed out, I think there is a fair to good chance that you will miss most, if not all of the show due to your supper time. There is at least a decent chance that you will not be seated right at 8:00, as the restaurant may well be running a bit behind by that point in the evening. In addition, I always figure an hour and a half for table service restaurants, because more often than not, it takes that long.

You might want to figure out now which is a bigger priority for you. I would also be stalking dinner reservations as your trip gets closer, and see if something a bit earlier opens up at LTT.

I hope you mean "Wishes."

Otherwise, you missed a WHOLE LOT of "IllumiNations" from there! ;)

We love watching the fireworks from non-traditional spots. Wall to Fantasy Land is our favorite
BUT
I would never suggest that for anyone who hasn't seen the projections, especially this new show, because the lights and fireworks are extensions of the projections. You are missing a huge portion of the show from behind the castle. Way more than you did with Wishes.
So, do watch from near LTT if you want but I wouldn't do it as the only time you have to see HEA

We never plan on fireworks, we like to use that time to ride and spontaneously stop wherever we are to watch if we can. We've sat in Fantasyland, the area around Cosmic Ray's and in Adventureland outside of Pirates. It's like watching fireworks at home, when all you get is stuff in the sky. Fine view anywhere in the park, some areas covered by trees so not a great view.

lol . . . wow hahaha. I almost wasn't sure if I should fix it so as not to confuse anyone, or leave it be just for the laugh factor.

I normally edit my replies when someone comes back and corrects their post.
But, I'll leave mine (with your original quote) as a record of the "laugh factor." ;)
