Plan is to get some Casey's hot dogs and find a spot to secure for the evening fireworks while eating dinner. We originally wanted to watch from the train station but is that now a VIP spot? We'd like to be near the exit to the park because we'll have DD 4 who will be super tired after and we will want to get to our bus as fast as we can. Thanks!

The upper deck of the train station is vip area as far as I know. You'll want to get there early and catch a spot by the flagpole/train station area near the front of the park to try to beat the massive crowd

What does VIP mean anyway? Like dessert party? So there is a place near the train station we can stand, flagpole area? good to know, thanks.

I believe what "CAS239" meant is that it's a "prime" spot. Not that you need anything in particular to stand/sit there but rather getting there early and setting up camp. That area is nice to watch the fireworks. My family and I have watched Wishes from just about everywhere at MK....but the flagpole area and the train station are the best IMO as you get a huge perspective and all of Main Street.....oh the memories.....just got back Aug 21 and so ready to head back! Enjoy!

The "VIP" comment is specifically for the upper level of the Main St. Train Station.
That upper deck is now reserved (much to the time) for invited (or paid, or whatever Disney wants) VIP guests.

The other area, near the flagpole (called "Town Square") is the area where walk-up guests can watch the parade.
It is not a great place to watch the fireworks, however.

You might be better off to grab your hot dogs and head over to space in front of the plaza, so you are close to the "behind the scenes" exit path to head out quickly afterward. Robo's maps might be helpful to you here, but I'm thinking being close to the front exit with the throng will maybe get you out fast, but not with a great view. If you could get into the tables in front of the ice cream Parlour, you could be one of the first out the back path and I'm thinking that might be just as quick with a much better Wishes view. What does everyone think?

I agree with this unless they don't open the backstage walkway after the fireworks (they often do.)

There is a major conflict with two ideas:
1. Great viewing of fireworks and Celebrate the Magic.
2. Exiting the MK "quickly" afterwards.

It would be very difficult to accompllish both.
(There will be thousands of guests who will exit DURING the fireworks, so the transportation will be busy after the show, regardless.)

My primary objective would be #1,
and then just find a nice spot to sit down and let the child doze for at least 40 min. while the crowd thins.

Robo - I am curious about the best location for Wishes and the Castle lighting show for my upcoming trip Dec 4-11. I have looked at your maps and I am wondering about the green "All Guests Open Viewing" on the left side. I am having a hard time picturing exactly where that is relative to the water. Is this a new area that they have constructed? How early would I need to arrive in that spot to secure space? Would that be the same for party and non-party nights?

1. Yes.
2. Absolutely no way to predict that, as it could change nightly.

If you want to be in that area, arrive very early (45-120 minutes early) and grab a spot.
At WDW its better to arrive far too early than to arrive one minute too late.

Wasnt the train station vip for parades? It might be fine now but i agree not much of a spot for fireworks and horrible spot for celebrate the magic.

Main street will be packed, its going to be a grab your hot dogs and good luck situation.
