Viewing CP Outside of Theater--Best Time?

We will be in Epcot in a few weeks. We have attended several CPs, so it's not imperative that we see this one; however, if we can, then great. We will be there for Ming-Na Wen. It's the first night of the CP. We don't want to get a dining package, and actually we don't even have to have a seat. But if we wanted to try for a seat by showing up no more than 30 minutes beforehand, which time would be the best? If we end up standing, what is the best strategy/location? I understand since it's the first night, this might be impossible. Again, it's not an absolute must.

Probably need to spell out that CP = Candlelight Processional, for some folks as it's a bit of a less common / seasonal abbreviation. And let us know which showtime would be your preference, or if you're asking about all of them (showtimes are 5pm, 6:45pm, and 8:15pm).

honestly, I have caught one by sitting on the fountain across the walkway from the theatre....but most of the time I am not grappling to see the narrator, the words are the important parts.....

the easiest show to get into is the last one, but for it being the first night of CP that might not work. To watch from outside you can either grab a spot about 45 min before the show so you can see the show without sitting or you can just walk up and hear it from the American Adventure pavilion. Obviously although you are able to hear the choir and orchestra sometimes the narration is harder to pick up from outside
