View from the plane?

BTW..............

WDW is currently not a no fly zone. As you can see in my pics we were right over it. Also, that guy that flies over epcot everyday writing out frases.( God, I love you, be saved) to name a few. CM told us at KTTKT. SWA always seems to take the path over wdw when heading for houston.

I was wondering because when we were there in Feb. 2008 there was most definitely someone trying to "save us" from above. We were watching him from outside our room at ASMovies.

Last time we flew down we could see a bit of WDW right before landing, it was a nice clear day in January. We first could see the Contemporary and then Spaceship Earth and the Swan/Dolphin. I thought I saw EE too. It was pretty cool and I think I just looked at the right time and got lucky, it does look REALLLY small from the air.

Last year, we flew in late, and we saw Wishes from the plane. DS thought that was pretty cool.

Some airlines allow you to carry a GPS unit. Waypoint MK or some plave and you can find it and also know how far away it is and how high you are.

We noticed Epcot and DHS on our last flight. It's the first time we've ever remembered to pay attention.

I like your thinking! I always think of the "Jesus Loves You" guy (that's what we call him) when I hear people say WDW is a no-fly zone, too. :rotfl:

We fly from Cincinnati & I was always disappointed that I could never see WDW from the air. Well finally I saw it. (The Contemporary) I look for the Contemporary and now I can find it almost every time we fly in. :goodvibes
Pilots do change their pattern, so makes it tuff sometimes.

Have seen the fireworks from both MK and Epcot but not any buildings that I could identify.

I've heard the sky writer is actually flying well off Disney property.

When we stayed at Pop once he was writing inbetween us and epcot. He was at a high altitude though....... maybe a mile?:confused3

Possibly. One time our pilot came on the speaker and pointed out SE. I was on the correct side of the plane but couldn't find it.

Last time, I was on a different side of the plane. I was totally amazed that I could see the coast. I hope I'm sitting on that side on my next trip.

To those of you who have seen WDW from the air, how soon did your plane actually touch down after seeing WDW? I realize the plane is in landing mode- I just am not too sure when I should start or stop looking.

It was about 5 mins. in my case. We saw Dolphin and SE on our left as soon as the plane got lined up for the final decent.

I'm happy to report that we had a perfect view of both Epcot and the Magic Kingdom when flying out of Orlando toward Atlanta around 6 in the evening. Spaceship Earth, Test Track, World Showcase Lagoon, Space Mountain, Seven Seas Lagoon, and the Contemporary were easiest to spot and identify. Still not sure what the giant Mickey head past both parks was; maybe we'll figure it out in July.

I remember when I was little(back in the 80's) the pilots often told people that they can see the MK or SpaceShip Earth. Back then, they used to fly nearby and I think that Eastern Airlines was the official airline of Disney too.
