View From Deck 2 vs. Deck 6

We currently have 6514 booked for our Wonder MR cruise. Thinking about switching to 2512 to save some money. (2512 gets good reviews and is comparable in size to 6514 since it's in the curve of the ship.) Both are oceanview with one large porthole. What I'm really wondering about is the view. I know deck 2 is actually more than 2 decks off the water, but is the view considerably less expansive? WWYD? Thanks!

P.S. It's our first time cruising, and DH wants to "do it right" and have a decent view! Maybe a lower deck would decrease chances of getting seasick, too?

we are in 2500 on the Wonder leaving this Sunday. :-) This is our first Disney cruise as well so Im not sure what to expect.. our last cruise was on another cruise line and we were on deck 7 or 8 (I cant remember exactly)

Please report back about your experiences with the area of the ship! Our friends are on your cruise, too.

P.S. We used to live in Dallas. I miss The Galleria around Christmas time!

By the way, it would be about $400 in savings. That's our tips for the entire cruise. Worth it or not?

We sailed on the first MR of the season this year (the second part of a B2B with the WC Repo from Vancouver) in a stateroom on deck 7 with a Navigator's verandah. Except for the times when we were coming close to a port (Cabo and PV), the only view we had was of water. The ship does not hug the coastline; we were too far out in the ocean to see land.

I'd take the lower cabin, and cover my tips, if I were you.

We have sailed in O/V on Deck 2 on the Magic and Wonder several times and the view is great....I really don't think there is that much difference AT ALL between the view from Deck 2 and Deck 6......it would hardly be noticeable.

We love the convenience of Deck 2. I would save the money and book on Deck 2. Forward elevators are very convenient to everything on the upper decks.

Not much of a difference for the view, but you will hear more noise on Deck 2 from the deck below (CM areas) and above (club areas). Also if you are concerned about motion sickness you will feel more at the front of the ship on either deck. I would prefer the deck 6 room - you'll have staterooms above and below you - less noise.

Is it just me. How can the view be "basically" the same when there is 4 decks between, min. 32 feet? Three stories higher usually equates to a "different" view IMHO. Whether it's better or not and worth the cost I personally don't know, YMMV. One is obviously closer to the water line. Some love that, as they report hearing the water "lapping against the hull". On deck two in rough seas you could see sea over your window. That wouldn't happen on deck6, unless you found a rogue wave. I personally would freak if in a porthole cabin and water was frequently over my porthole. Just my opinion.

When all you can see to the horizon is water, or a hazy coast outline then you won't see a notable difference, in port yes you would as M4travel said.

Best not to stay in a Deck 1 Stateroom then! :lmao: And I'm not sure how much water noise you would hear on deck 2. It is noticeable on Deck B and A, and can be heard on Deck 1.
Would have thought you would have to listen for it in calm water's and but be noticeable in rougher seas.

Extechie, that's exactly why I booked Fantasy as far from water line as I could book. :thumbsup2 No waves for me. Unless we have seas then that's another matter.
All's good.

If wave's are hitting Deck 6, I would be banging on the Bridge door telling them to stop letting Goofy steer the ship! :lmao:

How many feet is deck two portholes off the water in calm seas?
How many feet is deck six portholes off the water in calm seas?

Your the man, Extechie, so I'm asking.

From what I've extrapolated from photos it looks like the deck height matches up somewhat with level. Deck 5 ceiling is 50 feet above waterline.
Deck 11 ceiling is 110 feet above water line.

what do you all think about my estimations?

While some do not like being close to the water some of us do....I actually love when the waves come up and wash over the window.....I love being close to the water. I like being in rough seas as well....everybody is different!!

We usually stay mid-ship on Deck 2 and never had a noise problem there.

View from our Deck 2 porthole.....in rougher seas....

And the view to the reef at CC.

Here's the view from 2586 on the Magic, eastern Caribbean:

This was from our first cruise and we were upgraded from an 11C inside to this 9B, so I was glad to get any view at all. But I found just staring at the ocean from this level to be terrific. Really enjoyed it.

OK, water line to Deck 1 floor on the Classic's is around 12 feet, each deck is around 10 feet high, deck 3 & 4 being the exception of around 15, so Deck 2 floor would be around 20ish feet, and a bit more for the porthole.
Deck 6 floor...... around 70-75 feet above the water line.

Hope that answer's your question!?

We sailed on the Magic in Room 2582 from Oct 8th-15th. The 8th and 9th had crazy weather with 20+ foot waves and there was NEVER waves above our window. We really enjoyed the room location and did not feel seasick. Noise was also not noticed from above or below.

We prefer deck 2 forward and book it everytime. I have sailed with crazy waves that covered the porthole. It was one of the best memories we have of all cruises.
